Magus nodded. "Circle magic.. I'veheard of cultists using their combined magic to summon powerful demons before.. I assume it's a similar process," he remarked. Aramil looked completely confused, but went along with it. The power of teamwork appealed to him.

Raiku struggled with his next word. "Agreed."
Funny how now, he was going to be working together with an old nemesis, and an old apprentice. Perhaps there could be power in this.

Nome and Tion looked slightly put off when thier suggestion got shot down. They were only trying to help. It wasn't their fault that thievery was the only thing they knew how to do well enough to have any benefits. The two of them watched in boredom as the mages all got in a circle.
"Ah yes, of course this is an obvious time to get in a circle and become closer to one another." Naome rolled her eyes and looked off in the direction of what they had assumed to be a parade. "Could we hurry it up? I want to see the celebration."

Annie sighed and walked over to her sister-in-law, putting a hand on her shoulder. "Just wait a moment, Naome. Trust me when I say that this world will be more interesting than you can dare to hope - it is worth the wait."
Dark nodded and stepped nearer. She felt slightly awkward being the only woman in the group, but it was not a problem once she remembered that she was much older and far more experienced with this kind of magic than the men were. She looked at the blue-haired vampire. "All right. This is slightly different than the magic you are used to. No runes, and no chants. Aramil, you already have been trained to use your mind and will alone, so this will not be a terrible problem for you - that, and you've already had your will bound to mine in your training." With a deep breath, she turned to Raiku, struggling to keep a disgusted look from appearing on her flawless face. "I am not entirely sure what you are used to working with, but I don't think it's the same thing as sorcery. So." She faced the middle of the circle. "Concentrate on the center of the circle and delve your thoughts and focus into your own self. Find your natural, potential energy and then will it to be placed in the center of the cirlce. I will worry about changing the will power into a spell, since it is slightly complicated for non-experienced sorcery wielders, especially one to be used for a group. Don't get me wrong - Magus and Raiku, you are both extremely powerful, but just as I don't have much experience in runes and such things, you both do not have much experience in sorcery." She breathed in deeply and continued. "Once you get your energy in there, concentrate on getting some of this world's magical energy in the center as well by channeling it through you. It is harder to do here than I ever thought possible - there seems to be energy in this world's earth, but no actual magic. It's as if I had to will it to BE magic. Either way, the energy is what we need. Remember, don't overestimate your power or put too much strain into it. I don't want anyone here to die from overexertion." She closed her eyes for more concentration and then began to gather the energy within herself and what she could from the grass beneath her. It took her longer than she thought it would to get even enough to make a simple spell. She hoped inwardly that they could, in fact, get enough energy to make the language spell. She could feel the power within her and steeled herself for the exhaustion that would take place when she willed it to flow out of her and to the middle of the circle, where the separate wills would meet. Gently, she willed the energy and magic from within her to move from her to thec enter. She could see it with her mind - no, it was more like feeling it, yet, it had a hue to it. This was always how it was with sorcery. Hers was a very light blue energy. She could "see" it waiting in the middle for the rest of the energies to meet it. She could not "see" any of the other colors that she knew would eventually appear, so she struggled to remain standing as she willed the energy to stay where it was. It was the most difficult thing she had ever done before.
Naburine was impressed. She had no idea what was going on in that circle, but all four of the magical beings seemed to be in so much pain and concentrating so hard that she was actually beginning to worry about them all. She had never seen Dark look so troubled and strained - it was odd, but impressive. The sorceress's brow was actually creased in many places, her neck was flexed to the point that Naburine thought her jugular vein might just pop from under her flesh, and actual beads of sweat began to form at the elf-woman's hairline. Her lips were pursed so hard that Naburine could actually see blood seeping out from the inside, where she guessed that Dark was biting unconciously in her effort. The ninja-pirate wondered if Dark was even aware of the physical things she was doing as she did whatever mumbo-jumbo she was doing over there with the creepy guys and the kid. Magic had always just happened in their world. Dark Beauty had made it look so easy. Naburine felt, for the first time, actually ashamed of herself. She had underestimated just how difficult it was, and she began to feel a profound respect for these magic-users.

Aramil felt like he was in over his head with some serious magics now. This wasn't as easy as a simple illusion or enchantment. He felt like he was doing some serious exercise as he participated in the circle, trying to shift his conscious will and locate it within the center of the circle. Being used to this with Dark in his training, this wasn't as difficult for him as it was for Magus. He kept his eyes closed and his hands extended, palms facing outward, seeing a small flickering green and white light beginning to show. Magus wiped his face clean of any expression, though he still seemed to be scowling anyway. Being born with magic, he could use it as easily as he could move his arm, though glyphs and wizardry made things much easier. If only they had the time and patience to go through with it, not that he had powdered demon horn or black candles to make the circle with anyway... He went along with her way, different from his own and therefore a bit more challenging, but he managed it. A dark, purple and indigo flame gathered around him as he cast. ( there ya go! )

"Alright, here we go..." Rai said, forcing his hands toward the center. His eyes were closed tightly, and the viens in his neck were proof of the physical strain it took on him. He could barely sense a combined magical influence, but he needed more...While focusing as hard as he could on the center of the circle, he silently pleaded for the energy of the planet itself to allign with them.
Sparks of lighting crackled around him as he forced what he had into this new style of casting.

They were all there.
Dark pressed her will forward so that it melded with the others' in the center of their circle. Immediately, most of the strain was taken away. Usually all of it would be... but with the lack of magical energy in this place, it felt like the energy to cast a regular spell was being sapped from her. Either way, it was enough. She worked with the melded will power to change it into the spell she needed. When she had it correct, she whispered, "Understanding," and the potential energy that had been kept in the center became kinetic, totally draining every single user as the spell divided and settled on every memeber of their party. Dark found herself gasping for air on the ground... and the other magic-users had been driven to their knees as well. But the spell was complete.

Raiku couldn't remember hitting the ground, but his knees certainly felt the impact. His heart raced, and his face was white. "That...was not very much fun, at all."
"Did it work?" Aegis said, a combined look of curiousity and worry upon his face.

Dark nodded to Aegis, a hand over her chest as she struggled to regain control of her breathing. "Yes. It worked."

Magus stayed on his knee for a moment, staring at the ground blankley as he caught his breath. When he rose, he tossed his cloak out of his way and despite the sweat and quickened pulse he appeared as if it didn't take that much out of him. "That was harder than I thought... So, we can talk to people now?" Aramil asked, still laying flat on his back looking at the morning sky, his little chest rising and falling quickly as he caught his breath. "I want to see ... Annie's world a little.. if we can."

Dark nodded again. "Yes, we can speak to people now." She looked at Annie. "Say something in your native tongue so that we know."
Annie, feeling slightly guilty for the strain that had caused her friends, simply said, "Sorry for the trouble..."

Naome looked at Annie and then back at Dark. Then she looked once more at Annie. "Umm how are we supposed to know if she said it in her tongue? I understood it, but what if she really just said it in our language because she knew it didn't work and didn't want to hurt your feelings?"
"Annie wouldn't do that. It's not in her nature to be deceiving." Tion said as he walked back over beside his wife.
"Not in her nature to try and spare other people's feelings? Hmm, you don't have a very high opinion of your wife do you?" Naome looked relatively smug as she turned and sauntered away. That is, she did until a well aimed rock nailed her in the back of the head. Tion did not look pleased or amused by her comment.

Annie smiled sadly at her sister-in-law's comment. "It's okay, Tion. Don't worry about it. But, he's right, I would not lie about it. I am speaking in English - that's the dominant language here, though it is possible that Spanish has taken over since I left." She had an odd look of irony on her face and she rolled her eyes as she made that last comment. "We'll worry about that when we meet the others. You all are speaking pretty fluent English - only a trace of an accent."
Dark chuckled. "Actually, we're not speaking your language - it only sounds like we are to those who speak it. The spell is complicated - it would not be possible for us to speak new words without knowing it. That's odd about the accent, though... perhaps it's because of the lack of magic on this planet."

"Can we explore now?" Aramil asked, getting notably anxious. He still had a long way to go before he acted mature, even if he'd made big steps already. He wanted to see what the parade was about.
"If we're going to be around here for an extended time, perhaps we should establish a base of operations," Magus suggested. "I wonder exactly when we are.. have you left yet, did you just leave, or has it been an equal or greater amount of time since you came to Ellaia..."

Annie shrugged. "I have no idea when this is. I would have to try and find my way back to my old work area. I was going to a community college not too far from my work area... but I would rather not go back to the school. I will have to go back to work in order to find out what happened." It was so ODD to speak English... and have THEM speaking it (or seemingly speaking it) as well. "We need to explore... I am thinking about what a rukus your clothes will create... we will get attention, that's for sure, but there are always fanatics walking around here in Hollywood trying to get a job on the big screen..." She was talking to herself now, looking at all of them critically. Naburine and Dark looked utterly confused as to what Annie was talking about, but did not say anything.
