I'm thinking about signing up for another martial arts class, maybe something at the college. Since I'm in running start, i could do that for free.. Heh.. imagine, me just walking into the karate (or whatever class) class with a white belt on, playing it like a newbie. Low profile.. hehe
Lets see.. DDR is a favorite (We will rock you! Woot!) I really like soccer, i recently found out that.. I want to play more often. Not just saying that either, I'm sitting watching Dark at the games, and i find myself wanting to play. It's frustrating... I cant stand basketball. Can't shoot to save my life.. and football, if i had to throw the ball it would twirl, not spin. Kicking, especially after TKD, i feel confident with.
Soul Calibur 2 is my VG sport... I run pretty quickly, but i have little to no lung capacity after a while, i get winded easily.. need to do more aerobics... I perfer two handed weapons.. swords are good, but i like reach. Keeps them at a distance.. Bo or Io staves are my personal preference.

Lol nothing wrong with being a scrub for awhile.
And youre right deliverance it has been tainted here for the most part. I found a japanese man who moved here to teach me all he knew and when he finished with me I got to go to a temple for a solid year. Best experience of my life (cept the whole head shaving thing.)
As far as preference goes rope dart or daggers are my favorite, no matter what weapon you have your dead. I can either force my way in using the daggers or rope as a shield or throw them at you.
Btw I totally pwn SCII. Mitsurugi is a god.

That's pretty cool that you guys do that.
Rikimaru, you got to go to a temple for a year? That's so cool.

Yea...but it's definately no joke. It's the most intense thing I've ever done. Bar none. It makes boot camp look like Tae Bo.

The Martial Arts style that I am taught in is the ways of the Dong Tsuo Fan Ying style. It's an overall defensive style, and only one man teaches it in the entire world. I personally love it, but I'm one of the only students that have learned it, but adding in my own offensive tactics along with some ninjitsu point pressing, I'm fine. Though I don't sparr. Suppose that's a downfall of mine, but it's something I prefer to stick to and train in privacy.
I have to agree with Rikimaru about the training thing. From what I've heard from my sensei, it's really intense. Congrats on getting as far as you have.

Thanks. Yea I studied Go Jin Ryu at the temple...I've never been so astounded in my life. It's a style of grace as well as power. These monks could basically turn anything into a weapon....and I mean anything. It's just amazing how some of these ancient styles are still so effective today!

Our martial arts class is anything but formal. We teach formal for forms (katas) and passing up in rank because its traditonal and helps with self-control.
But when it comes o practicality and self defense, what he teaches is more an amalgum of all the training he's had. There's akido, karate (bb), Tae Kwon Do (3dbb hall of famer), judo, kung fu, street observations, filipino stick fighting (escrimnas), Police academy training (brutality at its finest), boxing, wrestling, nunchaku, bo, tonfa, champion dart throwing, and gymnastics (compliments of me! *flips*)
Basically, he teaches how to properly defend yourself in everyday situations. Don't chamber punches, keep your hands up, dont look paranoid when you walk down the street.. dont EVER use horse stance when facing the enemy with your front, and when someone confronts you and wants to beat the tar out of you, don't go "HWAAAA" and get into a crane doublemonkey-fist of the tiger-moose stance, and twiddle your fingers aggressivly. Low profiles rule...
Oh.. and I much perfer Nightmare and astaroth.. though mitsurugi is great for those really tough weapon master battles.

Yea...horse stance + street fight = lack of reproduction ability if you catch my drift.
Mitsurugi is just amazing...you just have to learn how to use him. He can string together a one combo kill if you can time it right.

Heh.. though yoshimitsu can kill in one hit if you can pull it off..
Anyway, DDR may not be a sport, but it sure is competitive and good for cardio. I love the workout mode.

Myth: Yoshimitsu can kill in one hit
Fact: Yoshimitsu can kill in one COMBO
You gotta time it right...its like slap stick combo+solar flare kick+lower spin kicks+rising helicopter slash+Soul drain+Hari Kari or Legend Stab (depends on who you're fighting)

No, I've killed someone in one hit in practice mode, never pulled it off against someone because.. usually they hit me before i can reach them.
No, Yoshimitsu kills in one hit when you use soul edge, turn around, and stab yourself through the stomach. It takes away half your life, but kills them if it works.
Correction riki, you're right in the fact that it takes more than one hit. However, if you do the turning suicide stab using soul edge after using the soul charge move (green shiny powerup thingy) it brings the enemy to very near death (like 1/12 of their health) and since the sword absorbes life, you're almost back to full. One more powerful hit and they die. So.. yet.. three moves, but potentially two hits.

Yea but that move is hard to contact out of combo especially having to soul charge first. I find it much easier to go combo-tastic on them lol.

Soul Calibur is soo not a sport. Oh and I like to think of Tae Kwon Do as the white man's martial arts . Never done martial arts, don't think I'll ever need it, the likeliness of getting into a fight with someone who happens to be a martial artist appears to be very low in Southern California. Anyway, I used to do soccer, didn't play in a club, just for school now only for fun. I do track (which I now hate) and Football. Next season I might do wrestling if I feel like wearing spandex .

gasp! Blooki' tha' mate, the elusive Tenchu in 'is naytive 'abitat... Shh, don't wanna spook the lil bugga'. White man's martial art eh? Despite the fact that it's korean in origin, and half my class right now is not caucasian..? Got an uncle who's a blackbelt and a hot coal walker what lives down south in california... SC may not be a sport, but it sure does work up a sweat now and then... and sometimes it makes you want to throw things..
