I'm looking forward to seeing it. The movie and the broadway, it looks really good, well made. It is well written. I have read the script, and I have seen many cuts from the movie. However, I know that I would be totally uncomfortable watching it, both on stage and on the screen. There is lots of language, and lots of disgusting inuuendos that made me want to wretch just reading them. I know that is not a problem for some people I know... but I think I would actually enjoy it if I knew that I would not be squirming in my seat the entire time. I do like some of the music, and I love the characterizations. However, there is one thing that I don't think is well-written... and that is the ending. What the heck? I simply do not get what it tries to prove. Perhaps I am not artistic enough to understand just how wonderful this is... but I think I am smart enough to know that it is not something that I believe is right nor moral. [glow=red,2,300]Modified Note:[/glow] I was confronted about something that I want to clear up here and now. There are some people out there that seem to believe that I absolutely loathe Rent. That is NOT true. I simply do not agree with its moral standings nor do I enjoy watching people do things that you would get in trouble for doing on school campus. Sure, I do like movies that have some of it in there... but this movie/play is centered around that behavior. I'm sorry... perhaps I am just a bit "too grown up" for this sudden love for disgusting things to "fully appreciate just how wonderful Rent is." I am not inclined to see or hear things that I remind other people to stop doing. I view it as a waste of my money, time, and life. If you have a problem with that, so be it. As you may have guessed, I am very upset with those out there that have a fixed idea of what I think and why I think it without asking me my real feelings. If you have a question about how I feel about something, [glow=red,2,300]then freaking bloody ASK ME ABOUT IT![/glow] I enjoy quite a lot about Rent. I am curently sick of hearing it and about it, however. You can get sick of anything that is played constantly... even the Phantom of the Opera. *Gasp* Rent is a play/movie that I never want to watch, for there are better things out there. Forgive me for standing up for what I believe in. It seems that there are some people that do not think that is a wise decision. I'll laugh when those people have no life and are miserable.

Well, as much as anyone would hate to admit, this world is corrupted by those 'Disgusting Innuendos and Foul Language'. Even if you try, you can't completely escape it. But, don't do what all the other masses do and desensitize yourself to it.. Keep your inhibitions and never accept it.
As for the movie/play, It should be interesting to see. I haven't ever heard anything about it but its name and how GREAT it is, or how completely STUPID it is. I guess it's one of those ones you have to Love or Hate. I guess I'll find out which side I stand with when I see them. ^_~
[glow=red,2,300] My Modified Post[/glow] Woah, Battle Mode down please! I wasn't making any referance to you! I hate people who make assumptions and judge their knowledge of you absolute as well! I mean, come on, I, if anyone, am a person who is definately misunderstood! How could I do the same thing to anyone that I resented so many other people for doing to me? Do you think I would be that hypocritical? I was speaking as a general comment..

Way to go Dark! Well said.
Just because these sick things that people do may be real, it does not mean it is acceptable behavior. And the reality of it does not mean it's OK to entertain the thought and the act of such a destructive life style on screen/stage.
Quote: You've got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything.
Kooto's for you Dark! You're standing for what you believe in. And that should be greatly respected.

(Its Kudos by the way. Congratulations on using interesting vocabulary.)
I have changed my views. I stand for something now, Rent sucked with a passion. If you really look at it, it defies all rational thinking. They portray life as something it is not. It tries to sway your ideals. Its a political movie/play. I got to see a movie to escape reality, not to find reasons to hate it more. If you want to see a movie with a actual moral in it, I recommend Narnia.

You hit the nail right on the head, by the way. I know that they try to make you think that unacceptable behavior is normal and should be glorified... but whenever I suggest that, people jusp down my throat. I'm happy you see that now... and what a drastic change in opinion. I saw Narnia. GREAT movie! I have the origional one, and this new one has much better graphics, actors, and dialouge. The morals that C.S. Lewis wrote in the books also stand out more in this one. I highly reccommend it!

C.S Lewis is incredibly religious. I'm quite religious myself. Though my beliefs are not categorized in a specific religion, I stand for much of what the books and movies portray. I like watching something with less:
Violence Sexual...ness Explosions
I want to say war...but you have to admit that last battle was pretty cool.
(The only reason people jump down your throat after you say such things is because, apperently the behavior that Rent portrays (catch my drift) has become a fad in todays society. Sick really, lost many a friend to this tragic way of life. It's...kinda creepy. Scratch that. Really creepy!)
And he rants again!

I just watched Glory Road. For those of you who aren't familiar with the title, it's about the texas west college basketball team and some of the very first black basketball players (in a real team, not counting street b-ball). At first when I heard that this was the movie that we wanted to see, i muttered about wanting to go back and play DDR. I saw Remember the titans and movies like it, and i really didn't think I'd like another inspirational film. I was wrong, this movie blew me away, and as each basketball landed in the Texas west's hoop I clenched my mountain dew bottle as a silent cheer. I really liked it, and thought later that this was a really good way to spend MLKjr day...
