Kimmy scrunched her nose at Raiku and looked back at the..thing. "It hasn't hurt me so far. All it's done is make some funny noises. My name is Kimmy. Nice to meet you probe!" She attempted to wipe some of the mud off of her face but only managed to smear it more. She sighed and gave up. She should really learn how to turn the boots off. At the rate the things were going she was going to drown them all. Using the metal thing as a support she took off her boots.

Dark started when the thing spoke. "What is this thing? What accent is that? What are you?" She gathered up her will power, a blue orb of energy appearing in her hand, ready to be released at one word. This thing was potential danger to her village.
"What is going on?" A very out-of-breath Annie appeared, her pink ponytail swishing back and forth as she finished the run she had just made from the tavern. "I felt the ground rumble!" She then noted the object in the crater. Her pink eyes widened and her right hand flew to her mouth. "Oh my gosh..."
Dark looked at her sharply. "What? Do you know what that thing is? It speaks Common a little like you do."
Annie nodded, unblinking and staring at the metal thing. "It's a probe. It is a scout from a vessel that sails in the sky... in the same place the stars and sun dwell. The probe is a way of the people on that ship to communicate with the inhabitants. They can probably hear and see us right now. It is from another time; nobody could have made that in this age." She had used words in her explanation that she hoped Dark would understand. She moved nearer to it. "Who are you, Captain? Where are you from, and what do you want of us?"

Several hundred thousand kilometers away, Creideiki's jaw dropped. "You've seen a recon drone before? Where are you from? have you been to Earth? Is there an Earth in this time line?" He stopped, changing gears in his head. "I'm not a captain, miss. Call me a... ship master if you want to give me a title. 'Captain' implies that I have a crew. If you care, my name is Anton Creideiki. As to what I want from you? Nothing. I was hoping to examine and deal with a worrisome phenomenon that my vessel's sensors detected. Before it caused too much trouble."
Creideiki stopped speaking for a moment. "You wouldn't mind telling me what manner of gimmickery that allows you to summon a ball of plasma in your hand without being harmed, would you? Such technology is... rare where I come from."
SIAM adjusted course again, this time the ship was close enough to the planet to where the fusion engines lit up the ground noticeably, casting a faint second shadow.

Kimmy looked from Annie to the probe to Dark. "Gee, this thing sure does talk a lot. I knew a person into technology. She was weird. But she didn't look like this thing here. She was at least a humanish type creature." She knocked on the probe. "Can you feel that?"
Tion and Naome came out of Magus' home leisurely. They were sure Dark and everyone could handle it. Once Tion saw Annie though he picked up the pace and stood protectively behind her and put his hand on her shoulder. Naome went to stand next to them. "Ah. A weird looking thing. Has Thistle been at it again?"

Annie smiled at the hand of her monkey-tailed husband, but continued to speak to the probe. "I come from the planet Earth, yes, but I am afraid I have no idea what 'timeline' you speak of. I came here by some phenomenon of my own; I had to learn Common tongue. There were no other races besides that of human as we knew it in the time I can from." She looked at Dark, who bore an expression of absolute bewilderment, when the voice addressed her.
The elf shook her head. She thought she got the gist of what was going on, but not fully, and that made her uneasy. "This is not plasma. It is simply kinetic energy that used to be potential energy from my own body. And there is no technology to it. It is sorcery."

"Kinetic energy put into air, causing it to heat into the form of a fireball. Plasma. The fourth stage of matter.. and sorcery? While it's true that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic, there's no such thing."
"1 hour to orbit." SIAM announced. "And she is correct, she is not holding plasma, but some form of compacted charged particles. I have not yet identified the form of manipulation, thought the EM field might have something to do with it."
Those on the ground were, of course, oblivious to SIAM's conversation with Anton.
A tail!?! Genetic modification. Wonderful, perhaps so long ago that these people really believe in magic. Ridiculous. "Did you come from the rift that I detected in the basement of the structure you all just emerged from? Because if you did, there's no going back. You turn on that thing again and the Law will most likely come crashing down on your home Universe, eliminating all who possess the technology to swap timelines. Don't worry, though, I intend to destroy the rift the next time it appears and erase the evidence of it."

"That will not be happening..." Magus told the probe as he strode down the stairs to the smoking crater where this thing had landed. His leather soles crushed the upchurned earth as he approached the metal thing. "I too am not alien to devices such as these," he remarked, looking to Kimmy and Annie. Annie certainly did remind him of someone he knew once... "That rift is my creation, the crowning achievement to my research and investigation... It is not some sort of anomaly, I brought it into being through the hybrid between the arcane, and the technological, and it is remaining intact until I have found what I seek, or until I ive up the chase. Neither you, nor your law will dissuade me."

"You misunderstand. It is not my law that you'll have trouble with. My laws don't matter anymore... I'm the last surviving member of my civilization. The Law destroyed my home planet. They're a race of aliens who cruise teh multiverse looking for those who use this technology. If they find it, they destroy it and all those who may know of it. I don't know why, but that's the way they work. It would have been much safer to equip a starship with a transversal drive." He paused. "Do you really want to put your entire planet in jeopardy?"
The man muted the audio for a moment. "SIAM, we'll have to get closer a lot faster. Can you plot a tactical FTL jump into orbit?"
"Affirmative, but it will further deplete our deuterium supplies. Refueling will be necessary in the next 3 days. Fortunately, I have detected a large amount of heavy water in one of the northern seas of the planet."
"Initiate jump calculations. Jump when ready."
Anton activated the pickup mike again. "I would advise against looking up in the next few seconds. There's going to be a bright flash with a lot of x-ray and ultraviolet radiation. Anyone looking at the sky will most likely be blinded. You have about 10 seconds."

Dark looked utterly furious, the energy in her hand building power and intensity as she did. This was sorcery. She knew the difference between technology and magic. There was a difference. How could someone not have magic? The tips of her pointed ears turned pink in her anger. Wait... Annie had not truly believed when she got here, either. What would the universe become in later years? How could people survive without magic? Would entire planets truly be so distanced from the elements and their worlds that they would lose the magic it holds?
Annie looked startled at the look Magus gave her, but this man's announcement bothered her even more. "He's LANDING! This idiot is serious! He's going to try and alter our world!" She ground her teeth together in effort to keep from doing anything rash... or saying anything offensive. Being sure not to look up, she yelled, "How dare you! These people don't need your help, nor do they need the curse of technological advancements from your time! Keep away from us!"

"Ehhh.. omoshiroi.. Looks like I was right to come to this place.. Things are getting very interesting." Ace squatted along the top of the crater, looking down at all of the people who had rushed outside.
He went to join them, sliding down the crater easily, the heat seeming to leave the stone before him as he advanced. He stopped just in front of the odd talking object. He heard it say something about not looking up. Well, it didn't bother him much, he was still interested in this thing. He laid a hand on it, heat eminating from his palm. In a sense, he was probing the probe. Such an odd kind of metal. I have to use such a high amount of heat just to peirce it's shell. It's of a composition far superior to anything this world can offer. It seems to be highly refined and reinforced.. What strength.. And the inside is so.. intricate.. far more so than the outside. There's regions inside that are guarded even more heavily than the outer shell.. Ace's brow furrowed in irritation.
"What in the world...?"

"Don't bother trying to figure it out," Annie said in contempt, mainly from her irritation of the man trying to infultrate their planet. "It's too complex, and it is created from materials that you would not understand."

Phoenix jumped.
A great flash of light light up the sky above the locals' heads. A second sun lit the sky for a split second, then faded. Creideiki's ship stayed in orbit, of course, it was much too large to land, nor was it designed with atmospheric travel in mind.
SIAM relayed communication from teh drone which had been temporarily interrupted by the jump. A point heat source was probing hte inside of the drone. a small electrical discharge zapped Ace's hand to prevent any damage that he might cause. "Please don't touch the drone. Especially not with any kind of heat source. The unit is fusion powered, but it's got backup chemical thrusters which could ignite if heat pushes too deep." Lies. But he didn't want the man to find out about the nuclear warhead in the drone. Doubtful it may be that he would know what such a device was.
In response to Dark's outburst, Anton responded calmly, betraying none of the wild confusion he felt. "Oh I have no intention of giving you any of my technology, such sudden advancements never go well for societies that are pre-space travel. They usually end up destroying themselves. And I really don't need to come down at all to destroy that device, though I'd rather you did it yourselves. Generally less messy than an orbital strike. I'm trying to help you out here, if you don't retire that machine, it will bring the Law. I've already detected traces of their ships visiting this planet in the past, Law ships use a specific type of fusion drive that is quite easy to track. They've visited this planet and scanned it at least twice in the last 50 years." He took a breath. "Look, if you don't want me to come down there, at least let me try to convince you. I have recordings up here, histories of a half dozen universes where the same thing has happened again and again. Pick a representative. I'll send down a shuttle to pick them up."
Anton turned of the audio on his side. What was that woman's problem? Her culture had already passed the point to where it would develop spaceflight. He'd detected trace amounts of fossil fuel emissions. Once at that point, an industrial revolution is impossible to stop.

((You know, this is kinda' getting annoying. This was not exactly supposed to happen, and that Law thing irritating as well. We're on a totally different plane of existance. This complecates things way too much. I will continue to play along, but if there comes to be a way that we cannot make the Law disappear, we're going to have to chuck your posts into some other thread))
Annie, who had been the one to yell at him, bristled again. "Look, I don't know how you got here, but we don't care. And that pack of lies you just told Ace can be dropped. I know you must have some sort of warhead in there; that's the way it always is. And I can already sense that there must be some sort of radiation, thus implying there must be something nuclear or otherwise destructive. If you want someone to represent this place, take me. I know your language, I know your ways." It was true. And Annie already knew this world's views. She, being an inventor, had found things that could be used for technological advancements. But after becoming used to this world, and especially this one village of Ellaia, Annie was convinced that technology was not needed. In fact, it would ruin everything peaceful and orderly in it. No. She hated Earth when she was there. She did not want this place to become another Earth of her own time.

((WTFRAK GODMODDING. Seriously, what time frame is Annie from? This is ridiculous. How does she know all this stuff? Sensing radiation? I didn't realize she was magic as well. Anton's not going to set off the nuke at this point, he just dosen't want them top freak out at the prospect of the probe being able to flatten their whole village. *takes a deep breath*))
(And sorry about the Law thing, I keep forgetting that all your threads are contiguous.. it's hard to remember sometimes they way several chars exist in different threads simultaneously. And Anton's intentions are not to change the whole world, he just wants to stop that rift from opening up again. I already have a solution set up for it if you'll let me post in here a couple more times. Seriously.. and what I meant about them visiting the planet was they orbited it.. they never actually went down. I should have been clearer. And Anton's views are his own, there's no need to have our characters internal private thoughts to be arguing with each other. I asked Zephyr if I could bring Anton in and he gave me the go ahead. I figured as long as the thread creator had no problem with it,. it'd be fine. I haven't received any disapproval from him as of yet and I've done nothing yet that REALLY affects his storyline... as you'll see in the next few posts. I'm just trying to get him to be included in the storyline and this was the only way I could think of doing it.)
Anton blinked. "That was... unexpected. Alright, I'll send a shuttle down. It will be piloted by remote since you don't want me to come down, I'll even have it land out of sight of the village if you want. It will be unarmed, so there's no need to worry that I'm some kind of warmonger. It will also be wired so that it ONLY can be piloted by remote, so if someone manages to steal it, it won't do them any good. Pick a landing site, please. I look forward to meeting you in the flesh."

Ace winced at the shock, more from severe irritation than anything else. He didn't even remove his hand at the small pulse, just pulled back his heat. He'd sensed more than enough from this thing. There was such a potential for destruction, that he had to suppress the urge to feel fear at the thought of it.
Ace shrugged, taking a step back with a sigh. He looked over his shoulder at Annie. "No worries, I'm no good with technological stuff anyways. Just how to fry it, and, somehow, I think that would worsen things in this situation. Besides, I'm already bored with this. What a useless thing science is.." Somehow, though, Ace's normal grin seemed off.. This huge shadow of a presence looming over the sky. What a suppressive force.. He sensed no ill intent from this 'voice', but he knew to never trust your senses very far when it involved someone with power beyond normal measure..
