"What's a banshee?" Aramil asked, but before any response could be made he ws already out the door to investigate.
"I cannot garuntee we will be able to find your home plane, as the device is still... in it's infancy. (( trying to think of how magus would describe prototype without the word existing in his vocabulary) Right now anything that has been sent in has been able to come back unharmed, so the connecting plane is livable... I'll get things underway, perhaps this time I can conduct the formal testing uninterrupted," Magus said, glancing toward Anton. He did smell quite different, much more like chemicals and metal, less like wood and grease and dirt.
He paused for a moment, then peered unsmilingly to Shivelle. "Let's return," said the mage in a soft tone reserved for her alone.

Shivelle's red eyes glinted. "Yes, let's," she whispered back. In a conversational tone, she said, "Good to meet you, Mr. Anton. See you at the tower." She looked up to her husband, then turned to the doorway, waiting for him to come with her.
Annie went out the door first with Aramil and turned the corner to see the blue-haired whisp floating above a dazed figure of a man.

"Wha-Oh no." Aegis said between gasps. Were they coming back out?! He immediately jumped up, running through the whisp, and began to frantically for something to hide behind.

"Hi franklin!" Aramil said cheerfully with a wave, though he kept an eye on the retreating Aegis.
Magus glanced around the room again quickly overhis shoulder, then with a subtly flip of his cloak turned toward the door and took his quiet leave.

Annie watched Aegis run with a bit of confusion, but her face cleared when she noticed Shivelle and Magus exiting the tavern. "Yes, hello, Franklin. How are you today?"

"Oh you know, eggs and truffles and all that." Franklin said in a confident tone. He spun about, moving a little closer to Aramil. "Oi..." He said, most likely using it as a greeting, but with Franklin one could never be sure.

Annie nodded, prenteding like she understood what Franklin had so confidently let her know.

"I've always been partial to gumdrops and lily pads, though flapjacks are about the same..." replied Aramil in the same nonsensical manner, smiling as if there was some sort of inside joke he knew about.

Franklin smirked, looking down at Aramil with an arched eye-brow...Well, it would be arched, if he HAD eyebrows. "Pssh...Your crazy." He said.

"You both are," Annie said, a grin on her face. She wished to high heavens that she were a child once more so that she could understand this game.

Anton moved to follow the two vampires, speaking as he went. "I don't need to your machine to return to my universe, I need tit to return to my own time. The device on board my vessel is more than capable of jumping 'planes'. If I could just study it for a few hours-"
The scrambling figure of Aegis distracted him as it passed through Franklin. This world grew stranger and stranger.
Ignoring the local scene, he made his way after the couple moving towards the tower. He had to see that machine!

Shivelle had grimaced initially as they walked into the sunlight and she pulled up her velvety hood, but the frown deepened when she realized that the human male was rather close behind them, still enveloping her senses. She looked up at her husband, her red eyes in tortured pain. She did not want to risk transforming to fly away. If she went full vampire, she'd lose control for sure. "I think it is time for breakfast, my love. I am suddenly rather hungry," she said pointedly, but in a conversational, pleasant tone. She turned to look at Anton, her lovely red eyes glowing in the shadows of the hood. "I will see you once I am finished, sir. I am terribly sorry for the rude exit." With one final look at her husband, the woman began to run. She had not put on her steel-toed boots today, so she was running barefoot and easily at a nonhuman speed toward the forest beyond the tower, the cloack billowing behind her.

Magus nodded to Shivelle, allowing her to leav, and watched as she darted off into the woodline. He glanced back to Anton for two seconds, then turned back to walk in the direction of the keep. "To travel the threads of time is what I've inteded this device to do, but I cannot be sure how it will react as of yet," he stated, speaking to the man behind him with his usual, almost snappish tone.

"React to what? How does it work?"
Anton had caught up to the strange man now, walking beside him. He was so focused on his goal that he'd failed to notice just how fast Shivelle had moved.

(( Very well, if it's only him and I playing, then we shall play! Even if it's just me posting throughout the rest of this thread I'll wait no longer! You snooze you lose! *grin* And don't gimme excuses.))
"A good question," replied the Mage with a devious smirk. As they entered his keep he lead Anton and those who had followed quite a ways behind down once more to the dungeon ( Of my black despair, down we plunge-.. oops.. I mean) which had for years been converted into the lab. Within the hall cords, cables, and machines littered the place just as much as arcane runes, spiritual candles, and the combonation of oil and grease with incense and flame. In the center of the back wall stood the monoloth, deactivated for the moment, but none the less impressive for it. A large platform with a dias in the center, likewise shooting left and right with cables attached to large cylinders and boxes around the area. Within the center of the dias was a mostly complete ring, with only part of it submerged into the foundation. It seemed to be made of a silvery steel-like metal, but the inner ring shone unmistakably in that lovely golden color.
It was not long before the faces from the first post filtered in again, or at least many of them. Aramil still had more youthful curiousity and that irrevoacable sense of adventure than he had wisdom. It seemed that Scheema and Rubric had arrived too, though judging by the looks rubric was giving, and the bad acting scheema was emitting, she hadn't quite let anyone forget she was still woozy.
