The red eyes of the vampiress became soft and lidded, and she gently put her hand against the mage's face, turning it gently toward her. She stared into his eyes, finding there his emotions. "Ah..." she said gently, "but they do..."

Magus flinched at the touch, but did not react angrily or otherwise. "Perhaps, but the past is past," Magus replied. He'd never been in a situation like this before, though he pretended not to be clueless about what to do. Wary eyes watched Shivelle, wondering what exactly would happen. "I've..never felt this way before," he said in a whisper, looking down for a moment at the ground. "I can't concentrate, my heart is pounding yet I'm absolutely still.. I can barely breathe.."

Shivelle, realizing that he described what she herself was feeling, let her hand drop. In a hoarse whisper, she said, "I think that we are much more alike than we think we are..."

Leave, you have no idea what you're doing! You're making yourself look like a fool! chimed a voice in Magus' head, but he shook it off, continuing to say absolutely nothing. If what she said was true, neither of them had any idea what to do in this situation, both sitting there in a sea of confusion and apprehension.
Magus began to slowly feel the sensation of falling, and remembered to concentrate partly on his spell to keep himself aloft.

Shivelle felt a small smile creep onto her red lips as she watched Magus stutter in his spell slightly. The grin stopped there, though, as she was totally and utterly confused at the situation that she was in. There were feelings that she had never felt before coursing through her veins, and there were emotions that raged through her mind, threatening to overpower her. Yet she could not describe them to herself... she had never experienced anything like this before. Whatever it was, it was driving her nigh insane.
Annie sighed again, making Naburine wring her hands in frustration. "What the bloody heck are you sighing about? You've been doing that for a good three minutes straight!" Annie looked at the ninja girl, her pink eyes sparkling. "They are totally head-over-heels for one another, and neither of them know what to do."

The night continued to be uneventful... the conversation really ending there between the odd couple. The sun rose the next morning in all majesty, beckoning the travelers to continue to the town, and the pregnant Dark Beauty, who was most likely agonizing over their return.

Magus helped clean up camp and prepare for the next days journey in silence. He seemed to be avoiding Shivelle for the moment.. trying to collect his thoughts, figure out whatever this was. While he was concentrating on something else, his body was on autopilot, meaning he was scowling. "We should arrive back last this night if we make good time..."

Throughout the day, Shivelle found herself feeling somewhat rejected. Did she do something wrong? What had she done to make Magus not want to be around her all of a sudden? He seemed to be alright the night before... Hurt and upset, Shivelle walked briskly with the others in the group, her emotional wounds festering in her quiet and subdued facade.
Naburine simply could not take it anymore. Rolling her eyes after thirty minutes of silence, she ran up next to Magus (which was quite a task with her load) and glowered at him. Fiercely, she whispered, "Talk to her, dang it! She's just as confused as you are, and your silence is hurting her. You know who I'm talking about."

Janus took a step back, not used to being talked to like this. She had alot of nerve, and that irritated him to no end.. But perhaps she was right. "Leave me be," Magus snapped, shoving past the masked girl and continuing forward, eyes now filled with resentment. His scythe, which he used as a walking stick for the moment, pounded forcefully into the ground with each step as he thought in his mind what he could say to her..
Foolishness.. you irritating child. came one voice in his head. You're fooling yourself into thinking something would ever care for you. You've got the blood of countless innocents on those hands of yours, beneath the gloves. Remember Cyrus?
Magus felt a shudder rise in his chest as he pushed these thoughts away. He glanced over his shoulder at Shivelle.. He should say something to her. He continued walking forward, then, with a snap sound, teleported beside Shivelle, walking at her slower pace. "...You've been quiet." remarked the hypocrite.

Shivelle found herself jumping and letting out a slight shout of surprise as Magus suddenly appeared next to her. She looked at him with her red eyes, slightly upset at his hypocritical remark, and then decided that it was best not to argue about it. Instead, she nodded slightly. "Have I done something wrong? You seemed to be stand-offish to me this morning... I have not hurt you somehow, have I?"

"No," he said simply, his quickly-moving mind slowing down in the mire of emotion. "No.. I...just don't.. know how to deal with this.. alien feeling," And cursing myself for botching up what happened last night he omitted, saying it only in his mind. Magus seemed to soften a little as he tried to express what was messing with his head.
"I don't open myself to people," Janus said after a while, and a careful person might note a slight sigh.

Shivelle was one of those "careful people," but she kept her observation to herself. She managed to smile slightly in a self-mocking smirk. "I am also trying to deal with those odd feelings... I never could understand what made Mistress Dark act so differently around her husband. When I asked her what it was, she only gave me a strange smile and said, 'Just you wait until the right man comes along.' I was not entirely certain what she meant." The vampiress, totally innocent in this subject area, looked at Magus with a look of childish confusion. "Do you think, perhaps, that you might be the man that she was talking about?"
Naburine, only slightly put-off by Magus' lack of respect for her, grinned triumphantly beneath her mask as she heard that last part. Actually deciding to give the two a bit of privacy (now that she knew she would not have to intervene), she caught up to Annie and began to whistle to herself in a happy, tuneless way.

Magus lifted his head las if someone had given him a swift uppercut to the jaw, and his eyes widened in surprise. He stifled a cough, looking at her as if she had just told him her mother was an ogre queen of the moon. "wh..what?" staring at her increduluously.

"Well, I have never felt anything like what I am feeling now... and I think that I finally understand why Mistress Dark always wanted to be around her husband and why she acted differently when she was. I am thinking that, perhaps, you are my equivilant to Master Rikimaru."

"I.. see." Magus said, wondering what his stupid feelings had got himself into now. Would this be worth it? What could he possibly gain from this..? Second thoughts burst through his mind one volley at a time, but one thread of thought managed to stay away from the barrage of doubt. The one thing he wanted to do seemed to surprise and halt all the rest of hismixed feelings as they watched dumbstruck from the metaphorical world of his mind. The mage smiled a genuine, warm smile, and took her hand in his own rough leathery gloved one. "I'm new to this feeling as well, but perhaps... we can pioneer the new territory together," he said softly. No second thoughts voiced any objection, indeed his mind was clearer than it had been in a long time. Though perhaps his subconscious was still too dumbstruck.
