Shivelle, likewise, did not make eyecontact with the person next to her. She looks at the colors of the sunset with seemingly great interest. "I have absolutely no reason to be looking on the 'bright side of things,' sir. It is not my fault I was born a vampiress. It is also not my fault that I have led a difficult life. Actually," she shifts her weight slightly. "I am very optomistic. There just is no bright side to look at is all."

"You've led a difficult past..Yet you seem rather well liked among the people of town. You have home, friends, and safety. There are always bright sides. Even when there's no sun left, there's still stars in the sky," Magus replied, rather uncharacteristically.
"Where did you grow up?"

Shivelle, shaking off the seeming kindness from the mage, shrugs. "I was born in the village of Khonokhi, a vampiric breeding ground in a wood far away from here. The wood had no beauty whatsoever. It was dark, forboding, and evil. My clan was very bloodthirsty. Any traveler, lost or just passing through, was killed and drained. I was raised to believe this to be the only way to live. But then..." Her red eyes fall as she looks at the ground in rememberance. "You see, I was taught to dress seductively all my life. It attracts men... the type with the strongest blood. I was brought up with all of the tricks... just how to nab them in my snare and kill them. I had no problem doing it. I enjoyed it, even. But then..." She swallows and her eyes move to a different place... anywhere but Magus' face. "There was a man that passed through once. I was hungering, so I was the one who called that kill. After getting him enthralled in my imaginary world of lust, I bit him. Usually, my bite kills in a split second. They did not know pain but for a few seconds. But this one was stonger than the rest." Her hands begin to shake beneath her jewel-studded gautlets. "I heard him beg for mercy... ask me why. He sank to the ground and told me, as he bled to death, that I had not just killed him... I had killed people he was supporting... I had murdered a whole family because of my hunger." Tears were welling, but she refused to let them fall. "I lost my hunger for blood.... I never wanted to kill again. But I cannot deny my race. I need it... I starve myself until the last moment, and then I must feed... but I loathe doing it." She tries desperately to stop the threatening tears by forcing a sad smile. "My clan denounced me when I said this. I was thrown into the wilderness. I was alone until Mistress Dark, who had been walking in the woods, found me and took me in. She is the only person who has ever cared and helped me. She is the only bright side." A tear rolls unheeded down her face as she stares into a memory that only she can see.

"Yet this path that you chose... Made you stronger, and wiser, did it not?" Magus asked calmly and reassuringly. "And now you seem well liked and surrounded by, what you might even call, friends. You're clearly hiding some sort of secret from me," What was that?! Was that a joke??? But magus didn't seem to care anymore, no one but her were here to witness. He glanced at her, hiding the wry smirk with a gloved hand. "I can sypathize with you, I understand too well the kind of life you have led, though not the circumstances. If it's any consolation, you've got a stronger soul than mine," and so his gaze returned to the sun, already staining the sky a deep fiery crimson.

Watching the bloodlike sunset was becoming rather a boring sight, so Shivelle turned to look at Magus in surprise. He had... said something... humorous? And sympathy... something she was not used to at all... coming from him of all people. This was getting rather strange... but it felt too nice not to let happen. "What was it that happened to you, then?"

"..." magus did not often reflect back on his memories, for they weren't happy ones either. His smirk faded as the bloody red wound in the sky began to drift away into darkness, turning many brilliant colors as it goes down in flames. "My story is.. likely too long and dark to hold your interest..." he replied, dropping his gaze to the ground in thought. "...I'm not from this land.. I'm not sure where my home is anymore, or if it even still exists. Everyone in my world had the innate ability to use magic, except me. Some of my..." magus hesitated, before spitting out the filthy word, "Mother's friends, theorized perhaps it was a curse... I was born on the day my father died. My real name is "Janus," meaning.. Dark Omen." magus looked to shivelle for a moment to see if she was listening, or if she even cared about it... "The only friend I had was my sister.." at this mention, a soft smile slipped across his face for a split second, before he turned his head away. "But my mother took her away as well... She was a power-mad sorceress, who used her political leverage to her own ends... In the end, her spell to attain "immortality" proved too strong for her... I was thrown into the darkness of a void the spell had created, as it ripped apart reality.. And I found myself in this kingdom." the blue-haired mage peered to shivelle again, gauging her reaction.
"I.. was probably seven at the time."

Shivelle's red eyes had softened after the initial shock of the mage's obvious hate of his mother. He had been young... just like she had been. He was more like her than she had thought before. "I am sorry. I never knew." She liked the sight of his fleeting gentle smile. She wished, for some odd reason, to see it again. "Your sister... you sound very loving when you speak of her. She was a wonderful girl, then? Does it pain you, or can you speak to me of her?"
Within the cabin, Naburine had put her burden down all over the floor, looking rather smugly at the ceiling from her lounging positon on a cot. "You know, I'm gonna have it made for most of the rest of my life." She looked up at her friend's face, noting that Annie was preoccupied with something. "Hey... are you listening?" The pink-haired human looked from the door to Naburine. "Hm? Oh, sorry." Her eyes turned back to the closed door. "For heaven's sake, what is it, girl?" The ninja started playing with her coins. "Well... it's just that Shivelle is acting strangely around that mage with the attitude..." She turns, her pink eyes sparkling mischeiviously. "And I noticed that she has an effect on him as well." Naburine, picking up on where her friend was going, sat up, her caramel eyes dancing now as well. "The mage is acting up? Finally? Oooh... this could be fun..."

(( hehe.. )) Magus shook his head, sending the waves of long blue hair swishing. "I don't mind, Schala's still out there somewhere.. I'll find her." His gloved hand subconsciously fled to the teal-green amulet around his neck.
"I remember my first kill too," Magus remarked after a moment. "There was a war that I had been...enlisted into, between the races of monsters, and men. I had learned how to use magic then.. Throwing fireballs into a fray of charging men is one thing, but it wasn't until i fought a man one on one that I really realized what I was doing. He screamed and came at me with a pitchfork, nothing more than a farmer, claiming that i had killed his son. I picked up the closest weapon to me..." Magus takes his scythe and looks up at the blade for a moment. "...Dark, but more interesting than growing up on a farm I suppose," Magus remarked, replacing the scythe to the holder on his back. "Speaking of Dark... I get the impression that I step on her toes now and then..." this he said with a victorious smirk.

Shivelle nodded, a smile threatening to break upon her lips. "Yes, I think you most definately do. She seems not to care much anymore, however. Actually, I think she kind of likes it. She really is a tolerant woman. She puts up with the pixies all day, then she needs to put up with you." She was TEASING him?! What on earth!?
Annie's head came up from the little peak hole that she had just happened to find in the door, Naburine immediatey jumping up and down when seeing the reaction. "What?! What is it?!?!?!" Annie turns her head, her pink eyes wide. "Shivelle is smiling... and it looks like she is TEASING him!"

"Hrmph," Magus emoted, as if offended, however the smirk on his lips led one to believe that he was a little proud of her annoyance with him. "And then darkness took the world, and light abandoned the earth, fleeing to the skies above," Magus remarked as the sun began to vanish and the stars began to fade in, dozen by dozen.

Shivelle sighed deeply, taking in a long breath of the new night air. She was no longer tense now that the sun was gone and the darkness had settled in. Interestingly enough, she was not tense around Magus anymore, either. Turning from where she had been standing, she walked back to a large rock and sat on it, tilting her head back to look at the never-ending stars above.

"So what will you do with your cut of the treasure?" Magus asked, moving over beside said sitting stone, and hovering up slightly to be on the same level as her. His spell created a gentle breeze which encircled him.

Shivelle sighed again, still looking at the stars. "Oh, I am not entirely sure. I will probably hoard it away somewhere... or maybe I will let Milady Dark have it. She could use the money better than I for a certainty."

"Money doesn't interest you much does it?" asked the blue-haired mage, staring at the everdarkening horizon.

"Well, I have nothing that I can use it for. What would one like me buy anyway? There is nothing in this world that I want. It's the next life that I worry about. Milady Dark changed me into someone totally different... and I want nothing more in this life than to make her happy... since I cannot achieve my own happiness..." Shivelle lowered her red eyes to stare at her hands.
