Of course they all have SOME sense of reality. What fun would a book be if everything was complete nonsense. I don't know, that's why I asked. And some people like that kind of pointless happy fairy realm to run off to when their life gets dull and boring. "Yeah, instead of making my life better I'm goin'a go into my fairy tale realm where I am King James Cuddly Cutiepants III Lord of the Pixies, Ruler of all, and accomplishment of nothing..." Hey you never know, they're probably some people like that. (( Not to mention the extreme psychotic D&D fans. I mean like the ones that act out the battles and beat the crap out of each other down in the sewers or any other secret location. Craziness.)) I wouldn't say Halo and Star Craft are fantasy. I would say they're more sci-fi. But then again that's a type of fantasy. And besides I think Ice was referring more to the dragon, elf, unicorn, cuddly fuzzy pink animals floating in clouds with a rainbow, type fantasy.

And those are the worst type of fantasy books. I can garuntee you that much, no one wants to read a book with anyone whose name is cutiepants. It's kind of insulting that the stereotype is being taken to this extreme to be used as "evidence" for claims. Pick up a book and try it before you judge. I'd suggest "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin, though I'm sure Dark and thistle can throw a couple of them at you.

*nods much* Or try The Hobbit (JRR Tolkein), Dragonflight (Anne McCaffrey) - a lot of dragon books are really good - , or The Chronicles of Narnia (C. S. Lewis).
The Narnia books are really well done. You've seen the movie, right? They started with the second book, but you get the idea.

I really suggest "The Belgariad" series and "The Mallorean" series, both about the same lovable characters and both by the wonderful David Eddings. If you like science fiction (which it sounds like you do), I suggest the great books by Orson Scott Card, particularly "Ender's Game."

Yes, Ender's Game is an extraordinary book, although I must admit I kind of like Ender's Shadow better.

Ender books in general are good. I did not really like "Xenocide" as much as the others, though. I did like "Children of the Mind." Yes, I do like "Ender's Shadow." It's all sorts of crazy cool knowing Bean's point of view.

The only real sci-fi I ever read was the Andalite chronicles, back when i swallowed down animorphs books like a buffoon. I still liked the idea of the books. they were pretty creative, and thus, a good market.

I'm really into sci-fi. Christopher Pike wrote a lot (great author) but in my opinion The Last Vampire Series, Remember Me, and Season of Passage are his best works. Check 'em out sometime. They fail in comparison to those animorphs books. lolz I also recommend Meg Cabot's Mediator series if you are into science-fiction romance. Awww

;D - *psst!* wanna know something funny? Okay: my two little brothers, the ones who don't like reading unless it's bios of musicians, have gotten themselves hooked on The Princess Bride. If you've seen the movie then you'll know it's an awesome story and not actually girly, but still ...... .......I couldn't help it. It's just so funny to see them staing up late to read it.......
