OK, here's a thread where we can talk about books. Any Authors or books you really like, talk about them here. And first off, I will admit that I am a Dean Koontz fan. I have read 'The Face' and am now reading 'One door away from Heaven', and I really like this author. In my opinion, he is the master of what he does and the way he writes. And I am now somewhat eager to get my hands on 'The husband' (( It's not like it sounds!)). The question for you about this author is, are you willing to read a 700 page book? Muwhahaha! Yeah, his books are usually around 600 pages, but it is worth it in the end, and he does a good job of keeping you hooked throughout those pages ( did for me anyway ) .

Dark Elf Trilogy is an excellent book seried by R.A Salvatore. He is a brilliant, painting a perfect picture with his vast vocabulary. I reccommend the series, if not for the awesome story, for the morals behind it.

A song of Ice and Fire series, by George R.R. Martin. It's a little different from your average fantasy books, in the fact that there's almost no magical creatures or anything exotic like that at first glance. I first picked it up and thought it was a bit tough, but as I continued, the plot and character development hooked me in.
The left behind series was one that I also had to read all the way through, all 12 books. It's a good one for those of you who haven't heard of it yet. It's basically about the apocolypse, according to the Book of Revelations in the bible. It also has wonderful character development, and a truly unique and provoking plot.

Hmm.... C. J. Cherryh writes really good science fiction. Ray Bradbury does too. (His short stories rock!) Anne McCaffrey's dragon books are good. I like Orson Scott Card's stuff for the most part. Eragon and Eldest are both quite good (by Christopher Paolini), as is How To Dissapear Completely And Never Be Found (don't remember who wrote it). The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (the BOOK, not the MOVIE) is strange, but good. Tolkien's books (need I even explain?). The Chronicles of Narnia are awesome! (I've read the whole series at least four or five times). You probably haven't heard of these two - The Weirdstone Of Brisingamin and The Moon Of Gomrath (by Alan Garner, I believe). They're fairly scary and quite good.

WELL!!! I SURE DO LIKE THE HALO BOOKS!!!! THEY R TEH PWNZOR!!!!! W00T!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But Fall of Reach was pretty good, I have to re-read it since it is screenplay for the movie. I enjoyed how the author of "The Flood" portrayed how painful it was to be overcome by those nast lil' parasitic lifeforms.

Yeah, the Halo books are pretty good. ... Man, half the books listed I've never even heard of lol. I've never read a fantasy book, are they any good? Do they have some sense of reality? And you might all think I'm crazy, but I've never actually read LotR. *Computer system crashes*

Of course they all have SOME sense of reality. What fun would a book be if everything was complete nonsense. "I'm lady princess tiger moon sparkle lampshade pixie goddess, I'm going to save that guy being attacked by a monster!" She goes to said hero. "I'm lord Droth, dark overlord of pain and death!" said the man as he swing a sword at the monster. They kill it and fly away on a unicorn, and he becomes a shining knight. Then they are turned into toads. The end.
The George R.R. Martin books I listed are more reality than fiction. They just exist in a world that is not our own, and have different metals, animals, and there is a dragon or two involved in the plot. Other than that.. it's pretty much normal.

Yes. Zephyr is right. Allow me to escort you to the fantasy section of the library sometime and you'll see what we mean. 'Fantasy' is kind of a fluffy-sounding title for that group of books, but most of them are really just normal fiction, with less-than-normal situations or characters.

Then why are you on this site? Pretty fantasy based if you ask me, so is Halo. ANND Starcraft, so you have to like fantasy, because you wouldnt play those games if you did not like it.
