There were muffled curses coming through the fabric of the pocket... Sugarplum was obviously not happy.

Aegis didn't turn to meet Patches, but he talked loud enough for him to hear him. "I'll put it down when this man let's Zephyr down. Let us settle this with diplomacy. Oh wait, you work for the Queen. Diplomacy is not in your nature." Aegis taunted.

Mord grew annoyed with the cocky thing behind him and tossed Zephyr down rather forcefully. Luckily he did not land on Sugarplum. The man turned to face the ranger, drawing himself up to his full height. He seemed to tower over Aegis, and his glare should have by all rights burned the archer to a crisp. "THIS IS NONE OF YOUR CONCERN!" Mord said forcefully, without shouting. "Whether you like it or not, my orders are to retrieve this elf, who has broken the law and the knight's creed by abandoning without leave!"
Zephyr still seemed rather stunned, and did not move, save for his eyes (which were now swirly symbols).

Aegis peered to the side of Mord, and made a motion with eyes toward Zephyr. Zephyr could escape if Aegis could distract him for long enough.
"Well, of course it is my concern. Zephyr just so happens to be my friend, and I do not appriciate your eager attitude towards locking him up. Perhaps an explanation would help."

"Your friendship is not a concern of the Kingdom, and I've already explained to you thrice." Mord looked back to the still-dazed Zephyr and dragged him to his feet. Zephyr seemed to slump down again, but the big man caught him in an arm and tossed him over his shoulder.

Aegis pulled out his bow for the last time. "Last warning, let him go. Now!"

Mord ignored the archer. He wouldn't dare fire while Zephyr is in his arms, so the man thought. He strode past authoritivly, as if he owned the store and not the elf on his shoulder. Patches all the while looked very confused, and began wondering where the fairy had gone off to.

(grr....Mord is making me mad. Stupid government officials...)
Aegis would not dare fire at him...but if he attacked him then he would be inprisoned as well. This was quite the predicament. But Aegis did not think about thhe consequences, his friend was in trouble. Not to mention the lovely little lady in the pocket...Aegis put away the bow and lunged at Mords knees.

Mord grew tired of this boy. Now that he attacked a Member of the queen's military he was technically commiting treason. Mord Sith D leaned back into a low stance, strengthening his foundation so he would not be toppled.
Zephyr mumbled something about 'marbles in his soup'...

Right before Aegis tackled Mord's knees, he put one knee on the ground and swung the other leg towards his ankles. Hoping it would cause him to tumble...

((It is now the next night. Sorry... the action wasn't getting anywhere, and the murderer has a target))
The night air was chilly, but the Shadow did not care. It carefully crept around the stumps in its way. Obviously someone had been to work on the trees around this place. The Shadow had heard about this newer place in the village. It had heard that the prices were outrageous, but the weapons there were utterly astounding and well worth it. Well, there was no worry about the prices. The Shadow made its way to the little store on silent feet. It had watched when the little elf boy had gone on his way and talked to the one called Patches about locking up while rubbing a bruise on his arm. Mord had harrassed him well. Patches was the only one that the Shadow needed to take care of... and it would be a pleasure. It was not like the Shadow knew him or anything. Magic... Barriers... the Shadow felt them around the store. It cursed under its breath. Sucking in a deep breath, the Shadow drew in energy from around itself. It muttered incantations and drew symbols on the ground around its feet. This would take a lot of pleading with the Angel of Death. Perhaps he would take pity on the Shadow... it needed its revenge after all. It took the Shadow ten minutes of persuasion to finally get the Angel of Death to dispell the safety barriers around the store. When it finally was done, the Shadow chuckled and made its way into the shop silently. The Shadow looked around the room, appraising the different things that it saw. Knives, swords... wonderous things. But first... to find that Patches kid. The first kill would be easy. The Shadow found the boy in a back room, snoring quietly in his sleep. The Shadow chuckled, pulling out a rusted dagger. Patches would not need to worry about the wound festering if he was dead. The Shadow leaned down and whispered into the boy's ear. "You're going to die... I look forward to seeing you in the afterlife." With that, the Shadow slammed the knife into the boy's side. The Shadow felt the pressure as it met Patches's lungs. Blood frothed from the boy's mouth and his eyes flashed open... and then he died. Perfect... it was done. Now the Shadow could get any weapons it wanted. It got up, leaving the knife in the boy's side. A half hour later, the Shadow snuck out of the shop with a pouch full of powder, jeweled knives, a sword, and a few small trinkets just for fun. The first killing was finished... and now the Shadow was ready for anything.

As morning approached, Magus could hear something vile slipping away... The black wind, some etheral force between the material plane and the netherworld.. blew through recently... Leaving his room within the confines of the Tavern, he noticed something strange... First the "closed" sign on Zephyr's emporium still stood, though it should have opened hours ago. Secondly, the door was ajar, and a quick look inside showed the shop had been ransacked.
He immediatly rushed forward, scythe drawn just in case.

Dark awoke in her house and shuddered. She had an awful dream, and she did not feel quite at peace about something. There must've been something wrong during the night... her motherly sense alone could tell her that. Slipping out of bed silently as to not wake her husband and children, she changd into her robes and walked down the street toward the tavern. She'd surely find out there.
