I won't be emplying this for a while, but I'm going to be doing an Apocylypse roleplay soon. Here's the deal...
Genetic engineering and biological warfare had thrown the world into a new state of chaos... Labs were inducing mutations in humans to bring about specifically enhanced features... Improved skin, muscle structure, bones.. even improved minds, created to think better under the pressure of war. Despite what most would think, the public loved this idea... No longer did they have to send out their own kind, humans, into battle for meaningless wars. Everything became peaceful.. eventually warfare had been all but unheard of, a myth in even the most outdated textbooks.. It seemed that the world had finally achieved peace. However...Equilibrium must always be maintained, and something was being crafted that would throw the very existance of humanity into jeopardy. Beneath the surface of the planet, an organization, a religious cult known now as "Dust, " plotted the other uses of biological engineering, using a newly discovered element to help manipulate animals and life into twisted weapons. Monsters, abominations known as "fiends." It was the year 1000ne, which stood for new age (the age where all weapons were destroyed...supposedly) when it seemed as if hell itself has broken loose. Huge fissures opened up in the earth, and monsters you'd never seen in your darkest nightmares poured out like a geyser, a seemingly endless flow of fiends. Of course seeing how the military in the era had been obsolete, people stood no chance, and soon entire cities, capitals fell. The face of the planet had been changed by the eruption of the fiends, and mountains rose where once were plains, large plates of land fell into the ocean... It seemed that an entirely new world had been created out of an old one. This was when Dust finally showed themselves, claiming this new planet as their own, and using the power of fiends and the meta-humans to enforce their will upon the land.
But humanity wasn't completely gone... There were still those who built up the spirit and strength to fight the fiends. These bands of people soon grouped together, creating the revolutionary army. In the fifth year after the sundering, people still strove to live. This is their story...
So.. there's the scoop, the setting, the gist of my thread. I'd appreciate it if, before you create a character, you put the charcter profile here so i can sort of approve them. I have some criteria here that you'll need to go by.
Name: (title, First, nickname, middle, last.) Age: (12+) gender: (male, female)
Race: [glow=red,2,300]Human only[/glow]
Physical attributes: (height, weight, eye color, hair style/color, skin, description. For instance, you may have a lean, swift agile character.. a physically average or weak, someone built like a tank, etc. Anything unique (tattoos, piercings, one arm, etc.))
Personality: (take some time on this... play with the character, think up their goals, their fears, quirks. Do they saunter or march, do they have an accent, do they laugh or stare..?)
Character history: REQUIRED FIELD This is something i'd like you to cook up. What did they do before the sundering (when fiends poured from underground to the surface). Did they go to school? have a job? How did they survive so far these past five years..? What happened to their family? What will they do now?

Name: Morris "Moondog" Greenberg Age: 34 Height: 6'5" Weight: 260 lbs. Hair: Long and red-brown, pulled back into a ponytail. Gender: Male Physical Description: Moondog is a very intimidatingly large guy, barrel-chested and built like a truck. He's not exactly clean-shaven, but niether is he totally bearded. He looks like the guy in the biker bar you DON'T want to annoy. Ham-sized fists look worn and strong, very rough, like ha's a guy who works with his hands alot, not his head. He wears jeans with one hole in the right knee, and a black leather belt with an american flag belt buckle. A grunge-gray ripped tank-top is covered by a denim vest, although it doesnt look like it was a vest originally, judging by the frayed sleeves. He wears boots, not shoes, and wears a wallet chain for a good reason, not decoration. Several tattoos adorn his arms, as do many scars upon his face. He smells of cigarettes and motor oil. Personality: Moondog, despite his appearance, is a bit of a character (hehe). He's funny, and though he plays the tough guy all the time, does it with flair. He'll often say things like "The magnificent Moondog is on his way" and describe himself with flourishing adjectives. When it comes down to brass tacks though, he is the type to take a fist-fight over a heated discussion. He's not too good with words and talking to people, as he gets a temper quickly. Character History: Prior to the Sundering Morris worked as a bodyguard for a rather rich celebrity. He was treated with all the hospitalities of the man, and wore a suit, a clean-shaven face, and fancy sunglasses. Though there was little need for a bodyguard in a world of peace, there was still the need to have a human barrier between the singer and his crazed fans. Moondog then took up a job in the blue-collar industry, working in factories, lifting things and doing manual labor. When the sundering happened, his factory was one of the first places hit. Of course before the place was swarmed he fended off a few, picking up a service pole and busting a few skulls, but even he couldn't fight more than three of them. Soon enough he took a truck from the foundry and drove, trying to seek out safety. IT seemed like this was happening all over... He found a large place where they had a mass-stronghold. PEople died in there just as they did out in the real world, but only of hunger and disease.. Morris, being a well-fortified guy, fended off most of the physical needs, and survived longer than many before he needed to leave. When he returned, the world was entirely different... HE saw that his truck has been ravaged and broken into, but still in working order. He drove.. and that's the end of it. Equipment: A pick-up truck, revolver with bullet boxes, and a holster. Cigarettes, and a monkey-wrench.

Name: Ryan "the marksman" Evans Age: 26 Height: 6'0' Weight: 165 Hair: Short Messy Blonde Eye: Blue Gender: Male
Physical Attributes: Ryan at first seems a bit frail but under his olive green flack jacket and pants he is built pretty well but not overly muscular. He is very agile with his fingers and has very good eye sight. His hair from the back starts out straight then near the forehead his hair curves upwards which look kind of pointy like he just put hair gel in it.
Personality: He is a somewhat charasmatic person, the type that knows when to talk and knows when to shut up. He also likes to have fun with his friends but seems to instantly put on a serious face whenever something important happens. Ryan has a really light texan type accent and tends to stare for hours without blinking which seems to freak people out a bit. His fears are being uncertaint and not knowing whats going on.
History: Ryan Evans grew up in the south and lived in texas for almost all of his life. He and his younger brother Jeff would shoot rocks at trees with their slingshots when the days were rainy and play hide and seek when the days were humid. When he was still young his parents would usually scare him by jumping out of corners and scaring him, he would mostly fall to the ground twisting and flailing as if something were trying to bite his head off. When he was twelve he and his parents got in a sudden car accident shocking him almost to death and leaving his mother badly injuried. Ryan prayed and prayed non stop for his mothers safety and well being where eventually she recovered when the doctors said that she would die without a doubt, which explains why he always wears a necklace with a small wooden cross on it all the time. The reason he's called "the marksman" is because his grandfather had kept a old fashion sniper rifle that was filled with pellets from long ago that was passed down from generation to generation in his basement, his grandfather let Ryan use it to practice aiming after he got too old for his slingshot, he eventually got REALLY good at shooting but never really used it on moving targets since he wouldn't ever need to. His brother Jeff moved to New York for school while Ryan remained helping his soon to be aged parents until he was twenty-one. One day they were driving on the highway when they noticed people running on the highway abandoning their cars, thats when he saw them the fiends killing people. He struggled to get his parents home to saftey but his parents got attacked and suffered multiple wounds. They stayed in his grandfathers basement for three years hoping that the monsters had left, after another year his parents died of an unknown infection leaving him by himself for another year being a total of five years since the fiends appeared. He didn't want to wait around to die and decided to leave the basement where he had finally saw the wasteland that used to be the earth. Ryan took his old grandfathers sniper rifle with ALL the ammunition that he could find and packed it up in his old pick-up truck and started to head for New York hoping to find his brother Jeff. He had only traveled about one-hundred miles before his pick-up ran out of gas (Not a situation you would want to be in).
Equipment: Vintage sniper rifle, two medical kits, 12 boxes of sniper rifle ammunition, Necklace, a flashlight.

(Sounds kinda like the Matrix/Doom, awesome idea)
Name: Gabriel "Echo" Bamako Age: 42 gender: Male
Physical attributes: Echo is about 6 and a half feet tall, and is incredibly fit shape. He is "built like a tank". He has blue eyes and came from a small village in Africa. Giving him his skin color. He has a shaved head. And has a crucifix tattooed on his back
Personality: Echo is an incredibly religious man. He rarely speaks, but when he does it has incredible meaning. He will go out of his way to help people, but he will act like he didn't care. His only fear is the loss of his son, that was all that mattered to him.
Character history: Echo lived in a small village in Northern Africa, where he was taught by missionaries the Catholic religion all his life. He was often assigned to the more gruesome chores of his village, doing the more physical deeds. Which explains his size. About a month before the sundering his only son became very sick. And Echo was assigned, along with a group of three other medicine men, to go to America to get the medicine needed for his son died of the illness. When the plane was about to land, the sundering occured while he was in the air. A volcano erupted beneath the plane, and sent it craching to the Ocean floor. Lucky for Echo, his strength helped him swim the 5 mile long swim to the shore. As he slumped against the sandy beach, he looked back. The ocean was absolutly pulloted with ash, oil and other nasty ingredients. He saw the city behind him, and had only one thing on his mind, get back to his son, and save him.
Equipment: Echo found a machete on the beach, assuming it came from the plane he took it. He also has the ability to use chain guns, or anything else he can get his burly hands on.

Another interesting one... Unique character. How are you gonna do playing an old guy? 42 eh? Well, aside from being proficient with the chaingun, it's completly acceptable.

I have a few problems with yours Poly. Firstly, prior to the sundering there was no need for assassins.. as I said, the surface world was at a state of peace. So she would have to have another previous occupation... I like the childhood brush with dust, and her lust for revenge, but i can't help but protest the assassin part... This is why I created the thread though. To screen characters a little before starting.

Name: Koichi Sen Age: 17 gender: Female
Physical attributes: Koichi is quite strong for being female. A long childhood of labor to a family that had much labor to do, she became muscular. Despite this, outward appearances only give her a 'sturdy' kind of look, and she appears even beautiful in some eyes. Her hair is a wavy brown mixed with natural blonde, shoulder length and very well controlled. She has piercing blue eyes. She is 5'8".
Personality: She has a very mature personality, well beyond her years. She was forced to grow up fast and missed out a lot of her childhood. She comes off very strong, but deep down, even unknown to her, she still grieves over the loss of her innocence. She helps for the habit of it, caring only because it's all she ever did. Though she doesn't admit it, she would much rather be on her own. She has many walls built around herself and she hides well in them.
Character history: Her family had always wanted a boy, but the first 3 children were girls, her being the first. So, instead, they settled and set her about the work they intented for their would-be son. When she grew into her teen years her parents had more children, finally getting the boys they always wanted. By this time, Koichi had become the slave labor of the family. She took it in silent loathing. When the sundering occured, she abandoned her family to their deaths and fled from her life. She wound up in an underground shelter with some other people, apparently an old storage facility. She always had guilt for what she did, or didn't do, for her family. She became reserved and, eventually, stopped speaking at all. She became a mute and a recluse. Shunned because of this by all the other refugees, she had to learn to become independant and quite used to being by herself. She continued to live this way for the years in hiding.

Ack, I can't seem to think of a creative weaapon for Echo to use...So I think he will just have a machete. And I might think of something later...It was kinda stupid to have a guy from Africa suddenly being profficient with a chain-gun.

Hmm... Alright. Would a military Special Ops fit the profile? The earth will always have a military, even in times of peace.

I'd rather not... I was hoping to have the world be defenseless when the sundering happened. Because the military wasn't necessary any longer, and eating up billions of dollars out of the government's funds, i'd think they would disband, or at least lower the standards, IE less training in weapons that would not bee seen again. The only way to destroy violence via guns is to either destroy all mankind, or destroy all guns. Hand to hand combat would be acceptable, as well as archaic weapons (swords, crossbows, bows, etc.). Martial arts is a common art and discipline, and swords are decorative, and crossbows are fine hunting weapons, but poor war-time weapons.
Aubrey sounds like more of a dexterous lithe combatant, not a burly one who can take a hit, or a boxer-esque one who can swing like a dumptruck... The type who knows pressure points, chokes, and joint manipulations to bring someone down without having to try and overpower them... Sounds good.

That last part about her techniques and ways of fighting are correct. I just have to find some way of tying in her training with her past...
How about her family was wealthy, and helped support Dust. Though something went wrong, and her family was murdered, yet she was spared? Would that work?

Though something went wrong, and her family was murdered, yet she was spared? Would that work? I think that would be a good idea. Her family helped Dust, but then something they were involved in went wrong, and perhaps they had to kill off witnesses and those involved in the project... They wouldn't kill your character if she was only a little girl and had no involvment in it.. They aren't total monsters.
