Annie sat on the sofa in Dark Beauty's house next to Naburine. Her eyes were wide, and there was a silence that was nearly palpable in the room. She sat staring at the staircase, unconciously holding her friend's hand, and thoughts of worry flashed through her mind.
Annie felt a squeeze on her hand and looked up, startled, at Naburine. The ninja girl's eyes were also clouded with a mist of worry, but she knew how to control her emotions. Annie realized that she had been shaking, and she stopped. To calm her nerves, she began to think of what happened....

"Fizzle, get away!" Dark ran over to the food that Fizzle had been attempting to bake. It was burnt, and the pixie was covered in flour and her little dress was charred. "Do you ever listen? I told you that I would do it! Stay out of my kitchen!"
Fizzle had lowered her face in shame and had fluttered out of the kitchen. Annie had shook her head and walked in to help the elf clean up. Dark had not been feeling well, and her time was dangerously close.
Annie walked up to the irritated sorceress and wordlessly began to help pick up scattered pans and silverware.
Dark Beauty looked at Annie with her piercing cerulean eyes, a look of weary thanks on her angelic face. "Thank you, Annie darling." Her voice, as always, sent shivers up Annie's spine with its beauty.
"Don't worry about it, M'lady." As always, she felt like calling this marvolous woman by her name, even if it was not her real one, would be immature.
Dark smiled her gorgeous smile and continued working on the counters, attempting to wipe flour and butter off of them. Annie bent down to wipe the messy floor.
They had worked in silence until Dark had gasped. Annie got up from her squat quickly. "What is it?"
Dark had her hand on her abdomen, her eyes wide. She smiled. "Oh, nothi... Oh!" The elf's face contorted with pain. "Oh, dear. Annie, can you help me upstairs to my room?"
Annie had not waited a second. It was not until she was halfway up the stairs with a puffing Dark leaning on her shoulder that the full weight of what was happening pressed itself on her mind.
Dark gasped again. "Annie, can you call for Chyenne?"
"Chyenne!!! Get over up to Dark's room, quick!!" Annie's voice was more shakey than she wished it to be.
Chyenne had come running, her flaming curls bouncing with her tiny bounds. Once they had set Dark on the bed, Chyenne's green eyes turned to Annie, her attitude very business-like.
"Go downstairs, tell everyone that Dark's time has come, and wait with the rest of them. Don't let any of them come up, including you." The dryad bit her full bottom lip in thought. "Don't let Rikimaru get up here, no matter how hard he tries. I have a feeling that if he witnesses what happened, he'd fly apart. He's always upset when Dark's in pain, and here, there will be too much agony for him to handle."
There was a whimper of pain from the bed. Chyenne turned immediately to her friend. "Get out, Annie!"
Annie got out and down the stairs as quickly as she could. Dark had whimpered! That alone was scary enough for her.

Now, finished with gathering all of the people that she could find in the house, she sat staring up the stairs in apprehention.
