Aurochs grunted in response, lugging his maul onto the harness over his back again, and picking up the corpse with very little visible effort. He peered at the two companions. Both seemed to have a good mind, but they were equally shady. Perhaps it would be best to avoid talking too much around them. The strange elf-like creature would have unnerved most people with her very strange mannerisms.. and Perin was very up-front. The body was still warm, and the blood dripped onto his furs and leathers, as well as on the already reddened floorboards. Turning his head away from the party members, he peered out the door into the dark of the night. Who was it that killed this man, and what for? What danger was he getting himself into? Was this man a fighter in his own right, or just a defenseless commoner? Troubling, mysterious, and dark were the large man's thoughts. He did not speak.

It didn't take long for Fayt to return. He strode back in, obviously just reholstering his spear again. He rolled his head and shoulder to one side, stretching out a few sore muscles.
"We've been graciously given the accomodations for the night. There is only one room, and, though the keeper generously offered it to us, I told him that we'd be fine in the commonroom." Obviously Fayt meant the room they were in, considering it was the only room short of the kitchen in the small establishment.
"Adeline, Perrin, clear the main floor of the tables and chairs and start a fire while me and Aurochs deal with our dearly departed." He nodded to the big man and began to turn around, stopping short and, with a second thought, added over his shoulder. "If you would be so kind." It was hard for him to try to be 'nice'. He'd say fewer words in years than he had this night.
He turned back to the big man with the Priest over his shoulder. "There's a small patch to the side of the tavern, what would be a garden if anything grew normal in this forsaken place. We'll bury him there." With everything said, he moved towards the open door, intent on getting a breath of fresh air. He always liked the air just before the rain. It seemed fitting for this night.

"Oh sure, give all the heavy work to the women." Perin gripped as she moved chairs out of the way. "I might just go and take the keeper up on his offer of the room." She did not know how Fayt expected her to be much help with moving the tables. she had to go on tip-toes to see the top of it. And they were made of solid wood. She decided to leave that work up to her creepy friend. She has magic, She thought moving another chair. Let's see her put it to use.

Adeline watched the men go out of the building with a slightly annoyed look on her face. She then turned to look at Perin. "I suspect that I will be the one doing all the work. Why he asked you to move something taller than you, I have no idea." Using no magic, the drowlike creature began to simply move the heavy tables, though it did not look like she was straining. It took her a while, because they were heavy and she was the only one moving, but she did not seem to have too much trouble. Her form was very muscular, yet one might not have noticed that, for her movements were so graceful.
When she was finished, she looked at the fireplace, but she did nothing. Staring at it for a moment more, she folded her arms and began to play with the sleeve of her gown before turning to Perin once more, a look at the other woman. "I would very much prefer someone else making a fire. Because I moved all of those tables alone, may I ask of you this one favor?"

Perin looked irritated but she pulled out a wand from her belt and pointed it at the fireplace. After a moment of muttered words nothing happened. She looked at it for a minute and then Glared up at the ceiling. "I hate this place." She muttered and then hopped down from her perch. She took out some flint and steel and started doing it the old fashioned way, muttering darkly the whole time. In a few minutes she had a merry little fire going. "Well Now all we have to do is wait for our lazy friends to get back it seems."

It didn't take long for the two men to return, mud on their clothing and their hair slicked across their faces spoke of the start of the foretold rain. Fayt seemed deep in thought, moving along the room without really seeing anything. He grabbed a chair that had been moved off to one side and slid it to one side in front of the small fire. Setting his spear and it's harness to lean against the the wall, he took the seat and sat hunched, staring into the fire.

"If youwouldn't mind sir," Perin started as she approached Fayt. "I would like to have a word with you. You see there is something that has been dancing through my mind and I feel the urge to discuss it with you. We can even do it behind closed doors. Away from the prying eyes and ears of our fellow...companions." There was a light teasing suggestiveness in the last two sentances but there was also an undercurrent of business to it as well.

Fayt's trance was broken by the approach of the halfling. His eyes turned in suprise, seeing for the first time that he'd re-entered the tavern. Blinking for a second, he shook his absent-mindedness off and looked to his diminutive companion.
"As you wish." Retrieving his spear from it's resting place, he stood and began to walk towards the kitchen and small back room, calling over his shoulder while hefting his spear in one hand. "You'll forgive if I bring this. I wouldn't want to be caught with my pants down and no polearm." The grin that was hidden by his back should have been apparent in his tone, but the fact remained that he had taken his spear.

Aurochs thundered in, dropping his maul against the wall with a thud. He did close the door behind him however. Saying nothing, he peered around, and took a seat by the fire to dry off. He seemed to be thinking about something as well, though not lost in his thoughts as Fayt seemed to be. He rose his head up and looked at the tables, all shoved off and out of the way, then to the two women. He made a noise that sounded like a mix between a single laugh and a grunt, showing a flash of a smile.

Perin let out an explosive laugh in her high voice as she followed him. "Of course not. I wouldn't want to stop you from compensating now would I? But I commend you for your insight. I would not want to go in a room with me with any protection either. It would be quite stupid."
She closed the door behind her and leaned against it as she lit an oil lamp for light. "Now then. You dont seem to be very forthcomming on the information my friend. So I will ask you nicely and away form the others if that is what is keeping you from telling us what is afoot. What is going on and what is our mission. If it is some rescue mission for some grand Duke's daughter I will withdraw my offer of assistance. I could care less if some stupid twit got herself captured and raped by a band of brigands."

"Straight and to the point.. I thought that was supposed to be my job?" He didn't even spare a smile, let alone a laugh for the dry joke. His expression never lost it's seriousness.
"The information isn't being withheld for the fear of too many ears. Not for the fear of ears at all. It's for the fear of mouths. Information is very valuable these days, as I'm sure you're well aware of. I promise you that no fair twit of a damsel is involved, and this is not a rescue mission of any sort. We go to retrieve something of great importance. Though, we are not the only ones who seek it, and there are many who would see us not reach our destination. Our travels take us West, and through as few enemies as I can manage, and your skills can avoid. Good enough?"
"Now it's my turn for a question. Which guild do you belong to to be skulking around Aus and seeking out jobs most.. shady characters as yourself would call 'a fool's gambit"?

The halfling smirked and assumed a thinking position. "Well I suppose that will suffice for now. I don't suppose you would give me any information on what this object is. But I'm not sure if I should tell you who I am with. It could be potentially hazardous to your health. You are not a part of our society you know and we can't have outsiders knowing who is in it. Security risks and all of that messy business."

"Knowing that you are a guildmember is enough for me." Enough to know not to trust her farther than the halfling could throw the large man.
"And the details on our target is exactly the kind of valuable information that I don't need being spread around. Least of all spread through a guild's network of eyes and ears. I have no guarantee that you won't just disappear one night and not come back. I have to make sure that you can't leave with anything important." And by that, he meant even his life. Basically, he was letting her know how much he trusted her type. Though, he did have a light tone and a small smirk through the last, showing that he liked this particular thief. She had a very... fun atmosphere around her. It would be entertaining, to say the least.

Though Adeline's silver eyes became slightly glazed as soon as Perin and Fayt left the room, she turned to focus them on Aurochs. "What is so amusing, may I ask?"

Perin stood up straight, smirk still intact. "Well, then It seems you have a level head about you. Good, I dont want to be lead into my untimely death by a young lad who's head is full of heroism and fluff. I'd much rather be lead to an early grave by someone who at least has some common sence." She opened the door and left the room before she exited though she blew out the lamp and dissapeared into the shadows. From there she slipped out of the inn through the kitchen. Now that she had cleared that up there was some unfinished business to take care of elsewhere.
