"This plum is too ripe!" ~The fantasticks
that was a great musical, if abstract. It ran from 1960 to 1996, but it was pretty good. I think the version that played most recently in seattle was better than any of the rest because of the edits they made. They changed the two fathers planting in the vegetable garden and having secret meetings to get their children married to two mothers who did the same. When was the last time YOUR father planted vegetables?
I also liked the fact that the girl's hair was blonde and not black, because she was a complete fantasy ditz lost in her own world, and black hair seemed too serious for her.
Then what else.. oh yes! the one who played the bandit el guiyo or something, he was very roguish for his age. Good cast...Lookout I almost tripped!

LOL ya thats what I thought too. Maybe they are called french door scenes but its where instead of a monologue your drama teacher or director picks a random scene and people to play the part.
Then he can pick a different scene or do the same scene with different people. Its really fun to watch.

Oh i like doing that much better than having to prepare a monologue.. MY last one i tripped over it a few times, had to sing master of the house though.. i still have no idea how i got Lumiere on account of that audition...

hehehe that is like my second favorite Les Mis song. First definately being Lovely Ladies.
I know I kinda found a monologue but its kinda short so I'ma ask Dark about it. I'd way love to do French door scenes more than a Monologue too. Maybe we should bug him about it...

I know thats what we did for You can't take it with you, but we had a monologue (hereafter referred to as M.L.)also. The M.L. is just so he can be sure you can memorize lines, and in front of people.
