So recently there was a celebration of sorts regarding a tree, a fat jolly man, snow, and presents, and in it I recieved several soundtracks, which do not cease to amuse. I just thought I'd share my feelings a bit here with you.
The first: Avenue Q.
I've wanted to see/hear this one for a while, ever since I heard it was a parody of muppets that dealt with life during and after college. It's humorous poke at all the flaws of society, such as being without boyfriends, what to do with a BA in english, people who bug you, racism, the internet and it's many oppurtunities, and gary coleman. It's a good one.
Secondly: Enchanted
I like this one, though as you can guess the soundtrack only has a handful of real songs, as they don't really break out into song as much as other disney movies. Despite this, the few it has are very good. The rest is mainly background music, something I also enjoy. I like music that can just play while I'm doing other things, a pleasant background noise that doesn't interfere, or distract with lyrics, so I like this part too. It's very pretty.
Third: Sweeney Todd
Bloody brilliant, pun very much intended. I got this before I saw the movie, so I paid very close attention. This one cracked me up, and I absolutely love the way Depp portrays Todd compared to the previous, overly opratic version I'd heard before. This definitly gets 5 stars. Mrs. Burton is a great actress for this kind of role too, though I wish they had more of crazy cat lady.
Fourth: Young Frankenstein
I saw the original cast playing this one too, so, like Tarzan, it's easy to attatch a face to the singer. I love some of the songs on here, though it's not a 5 star for me, it's still very good. I absolutely love the scene "join the family business" and "just don't touch me" though it is a bit risque for my tastes.
Five: East Wind's Ensemble presenting Hayao Miyazaki's theme music.
This one was pretty interesting. I like flutes and I definitely like Hayao Miyazaki's movies and music, spirited away in particular. It's all good, though it pretty much sounds the same, though the Nausicaa requiem is soothing. Again, background music. I like it.
Six: The Grudge Soundtrack
Creepiest background music I own. Enough said. It's good though.
