"If I end up dying, do whatever you wish," he remarked, descending downward to the grasses below. He kept his feet hovering inches above the ground as he walked toward Raiku in the clearing. He whispered a shield spell, hoping that if anything did happen it would grant him a second chance at life, just enough to phase out of there. "Were you surprised by your welcome?" Magus asked dryly as he approached Raiku, his voice full of confidence that moments ago it lacked. Half of all negotiation involved overconfidence. "Or did you perhaps expect everyone to rush in and welcome you with open arms like the prodigal son come home?" He stopped five feet away from the forest line, his scythe drawn, but not held in a threatening manner.
He wondered if Ashlyn knew what she was getting into...Hopefully it wouldn't come to pass that they would need her combat abilities. A handy trick it is to draw arrows from air though.

Raiku paused where he stood, thinking of his options. "You remember, don't you?" He said, ignoring Magus's intended insult. Turning his head over his left shoulder, he clearly got a glimpse of Magus's position and stance. "Right here...Remember?" Continued the armor clad villian. "About one year ago, this exact spot." One would notice the red glow his eyes and face were eminating reflecting off his spaulder, growing slightly more intense.

"Fond nostolgia aside, you've returned. Why did you come back to a place you were not welcome? If this is about the boy.." Magus said in a warning tone, before pausing to see Raiku's reaction.
He kept his ears peeled behind him, though his hearing wasn't nearly good enough to likely detect the demon girl. She had the admirable quality in her to chase down the conflict where others may have cowered. Bravery, however, does not mix well with aggression. Perhaps she was different than the rest...

"Zephyr...Oh, I suppose his name is Aramil now, isn't it?" Raiku moved a little closer, keeping his gaze firmly on Magus. "If you have to ask, no, it's not about him." He cackled for a moment, "No. No, not him." His neck seemed to twitch, but his smile remained. "At least I got rid of that 'Aegis' fool. It's a start."

Ashlyn clenched her bow until her dark hands turned white. It was all she could do to not shoot the man while he wasn't looking.

"As much as I enjoy your conversational wit, would you stop diverting the topic and answer me? What are you back for?" Magus asked, annoyance in his voice. Sometimes the fiend could be tiresome, but at least he doesn't monologue...

"I very much doubt that arrow would serve you true, whether aimed for that lad's back or the other's heart. By that anger on your face, I am to assume there's a loved one down there or somewhere back a ways on death's row, judging by all the mal-intent I sense in the air. I am right, aren't I? Either way, steel was only ever one solution to the heart, and that is to garrote it."
The man whom the whispered voice belonged to sat hunched and perched next to Ashlyn on the branch, his balance maintained with varitable ease. There had been no sound prior to his words, and there was no presence to be felt. But there sat a young man of short and wild flaming hair, his tattered and torn clothes of a once fine, if plain cut. He looked upon the scene below with eyes of unwavering grey, nothing but great interest reflected from within.
The only truely bizzare or unique thing about the man was a very other-worldly looking scarf, that swirled around just behind his neck in wind that did not blow, with whips and cracks that neither whipped nor cracked. No sound came from this material that looked as though the world itself was bending around it, as though your eyes themselves slid off of it, giving the man an uneasy appearance of a head severed from its body from nose to shoulders at first glance.

Ashlyn merely glanced at the man and then back to Raiku. "I'm not an idiot sir." She whispered. "I know that ordinary arrows cannot go through armor. But this isn't an ordinary arrow. I know what I'm doing. At any rate, I wasn't aiming for the red eyed's heart, but his head. I would think that a man of your silence would be able to at least see where the bow is aiming." The young demon squatted even lower and supported her bow on a branch, readjusting her aim. "And yes, you're right; there is someone who is..." Ashlyn tried to think of what love would mean in this world, but gave up the effort. "Precious to me that is plagued with a near death situation, if he isn't dead already." She bore her sharp teeth. "Now what do you need of me Mr..?"

"Hmm, you would expect if I were one alike with your kind that I would be able to tell the aim of a bow. I guess I'm not, then. And I'm not in need of anything, I just thought it an interesting scene, and, since the other two don't seem as though they'd accept new company well, I thought I'd trade a few words with you." The figure shifted akwardly on the branch as he finished speaking. He had purposefully avoided her implied question.

Ashlyn looked back at the man. "Well. If I'm not to know your name then what am I to call you. 'that one man with the weird scarf?'" She kept a straight face and waited for a reply from him, or some commotion or movement in the other direction to avert he attention. "But stay quiet. I don't want to have to battle a dragon if Raiku hears us." She whispered.

"Is that what he is, now? Interesting... And, I'm begrudging to admit.. I don't have a name to offer you.. I can't remember having one." The odd man shrugged, falling without a sound from his squat to sit on the limb. The bough of the tree did not move at all, not even a leaf stirred.

Ashlyn raised an eyebrow. "Then, make up a name. I've had to do it as I've traveled. Luckily, the people here accept my real name. Anyway," She said even quieter. "Yes, that man with the red eyes and armor can turn into a dragon. It's how he mauled one of my few Friends. All I know is that his ribs are broken." She looked back to Magus and Raiku. "I sure hope Miss Dark took care of him." she said worriedly.

Raiku's smile faded, as if he forgot what there was to be witty about. With a flick of the wrist, his broadsword was out. The bloodthirsty blade hummed a tune of death into the dusky sky, awaiting it's next mark's movement. His eyes too, reflected the same attitude as his blade, glaring a dark red matching his markings upon his face.

Magus scowled, though it was hard to tell beneath the indigo hood. In a flash his scythe was in the ready, a he watched Raiku. He didn't want to fight, but he didn't understand.. what.. oh no. The mage glanced behind him for a moment, sky blue hair filtering out from beneath the hood as his head turned. HE quickly faced Raiku again.

Ashlyn turned her head as fast as silence allowed. "Shh! They're starting!" She got her bow into a better angle and waited for a signal of distress, or just some option to shoot the arrow. Negotiation had definatly not worked.
