"... you know.. that actually sounds relativly fun," says the orange side of zephyr, grinning at the thought of simulated hippes being blown into chunks of beef and ham. "That's disgusting... " muttered the blue side, rolling his eyes and going back to his sketching.

I've actually played a game like that before for two minutes and didn't like it whatsoever. Of course the graphics were decent. But I do not find blowing people to pieces entertaining in the least. And anyone who does should watch Saving Private Ryan. It is very important for us to realize that war is at time necessary and is not fun. It is no joke either. But it is also important to understand war and study it, develop those strategies and tactics. There may come a time where you'll have use them.
And Dark, I think you are referring to those pointless violent games that praise the gore and make killing seem fun. I myself do not approve of those games. They create a false sense of reality.
But make no mistake, and take my word for it. Halo is not one of those games. People may act like it is, and may get caught up in the fact that you're holding a gun. But it's not and those people are immature for making it out to be something that it's not(( No offense meant to anyone )). And they are missing the whole point/purpose of the game.

A false sense of reality is what video games are all about my friend. Sure, games like GTA may be hopelessly gore-ish, but some things about it are incredibly funny! Though, I do protest the whole prostitute deal...everything else about it is just good plain fun! Though I wouldnt recommend it for fragile little children...

False sense of reality is the danger of a lot of video games. Especially when they promote breaking the law ( GTA ). Some one might decide to try it out.
Ron, watch Saving Private Ryan. If you've already seen it. Watch it again...
Killing is no joke, and is not funny. And neither is stealing.

*listens to pirated Batman Begins soundtrack* I agree, stealing is wrong. I agree also that death is no joke, (by the way, We Were Soldiers is a good war movie too). However, I do not believe that video games are completly to blame, we must also throw the feeble human intellect, and also stupidity into the vat of genetic material we call life.

I've always thought that the correlation between violent video games and violent crimes went kinda liek this: Sure tehre's a connection.. I mean, people who are inclined towards violent crimes would definitely play the most violent video games they coudl get their hands on until it's not enough anymore. Eh? Eh?
It's like blaming the gun for murder. Ridiculous and a Liberal bunch of codswallop. Frakkin hippies.
