He grinned unconcerningly, waving the comment off with a twist of his hand, offering a small chuckle before his reply. "Well, I don't do too well with hiding what is obvious, but I do try to do well enough to not be so... direct." He set down the drink on the tabletop and reached into his coat and fished out, what appeared to be, a padded cup that rattled slightly. Plopping it down on the table with a meaningful grin, he took Naburine in an intent gaze. "One thing I do enjoy being direct about is seeing how luck favors new friends. Care for a game?" He tipped the cup over, a set of 5 six-sided die rolling out onto the table. "No wagers, of course. To start, at least." That always-present friendly grin seemed to beam even wider.

Kain looked down at the idiot that got himself wasted. What was the point of getting drunk for the sake of getting drunk? "Hrm," with a smirk, he knelt down and slung the figure over his large, broad shoulder. "Where should we throw him?" asked the small red-head with a grin. Remeer peered to his older brother, who returned the look. "Come now, I doubt our gracious host would want us to carelessly hurdle around his customers... after all he did pay for a drink," Argued the big guy with an amused tone in his voice.
"Well then what's say we pay the man's tab and then do as we like?"
"Normally that wouldn't be a bad idea, but we're in need of work, so we can't go around tossing money AND bodies around..." after that, Kain looked to Elijah, wondering what should be done with.. it.
Remeer the red watched the woman with attitude talk her way around the man, who seemed equally adept at using his silver tongue. Pfft.. What uselessness.

Elijah whistled softly at the ease with which Kain had thrown the man over his shoulder. "I wish I was as broad as you, mister. That's some impressive stuff there." The attractive bartender and innkeeper looked at the unconcious form. "He did pay for a room already, so I say we give it to him. Poor fool. He was warned about my tonics. If you could follow me, we'll get him to his room." Elijah turned and walked through a door in the back of the room, leading to a hallway. He held the door and waited to Kain.
Naburine's eyes glinted. "A game, eh? I suppose I could go along with you on that." The brown-haired woman turned slightly to look at the red-headed loser at his own table; the man with more attitude than her. "So, what's your name, mister?"

Mat gave a small pause for the man whom was directed the question, feigning welcome for him to join. When he showed no interest or even comprehension of being addressed, he turned back to Naburine, shrugging off-handedly and gesturing the man's absent-mindedness with a wave of his hand. "He probably doesn't have the eye, nor the purse for the game." Mat took up the dicing cup with all the die inside and rattled it a little for effect, that grin seemed the only expression he knew to wear. "Do you know Crowns and Roses?"

Naburine pouted beneath her mask when slighted, but shrugged it off and turned. "No, sir, I am afraid I don't. Not afraid to learn, though."

Mat's eyes flashed in amusement. Sometimes, half the fun of the game was to teach it. He adopted an informed tone, light and casual. "The game is Crowns and Roses, and it's played with five six-sided dice." A quick flick of the wrist that held the dice cup found one die flying out and into his hand. He flourished the die a moment in his hand and it came out showing six small dots on one side. "This, is a Crown." Another flourish and this time five pips were shown. "This is a Rose. The rest are a count of their pips." The flourishes showed four, three, two, and one pip sides respectively. "In a simple game, a Crown is worth two Roses, a Rose worth 10 pips. A simple count determines the winner. The only exception is that if your pips total less than 7, no number of Crowns for the other will win it." He was intently flipping the die about in his fingers during the explanation, almost absent-minded, but once he finished, he looked up at her, as if just reminding himself that she was there. He'd lost himself to old memories for a moment. The grin, however, never faded. "Care to try a toss? I'll give you this one for free." He replaced the fifth die into the dicing cup and offered it to her with an outstretched hand.

Naburine glanced at him with a suspicious, yet playful look. She took the cup. "Oh, why not?" She shook the cup, covering it with her right hand. She opened it and let the contents roll on the table. Her roll was: one crown, two roses, a three and a four. "There. How's that?"

((*Sigh*... okay. We'll pretend like your brute helped Elijah take Raiku's character into a room.))
Elijah reappeared in the common room, shaking his head. "I warned him..."

][ Apparently this has turned into a very secluded dicing room.. > >; ][
"47 marks, if we're playing Blood, or 23 pips if we're playing Ashes." His names were well out of region, and maybe a bit harsh here, but he was never very good at picking up the new language as he moved around. "A decent hand in either."
He once again adorned a learned tone, very confident in what he knew of the subject. "Now, normally, we'd have made an 'ante' before hand. That is, a set stakes that must be paid by both players before the first roll. After the roll, you would make a wager based on how confident you are about your roll. I would have to meet your wager in order to take my own roll, or else forfeit the original 'ante' wager to you without ever getting the chance." He went about it very pointedly, making every important aspect clear, but not slowly as if to a child. This woman knew what she was about and would pick up fast.
"Since we're not wagering this time around, I'll just take my roll." He scooped up the dice into the cup with a practiced motion. Rattling the cup under the palm of one hand, he spilled the dice onto the table. Four dice rolled to single pips and the last spun and ended up standing on a single edge, poised impossibly in the air.
Mat blinked for a second, shooting a nervous smile to his companion when he realized the die wasn't going to fall on it's own accord. He coughed and bumped the table casually. The die toppled over, landing to show three pips. Irritation flashed across his face before he sighed. "7 marks or 7 pips, either one is the 'Fool's Luck' and the worst possible roll in any dicing game."

As the night grew longer, the two gentlemen had left, leaving no so much as a copper for a tip. It had begun to rain several hours ago, and from the looks of the man who just walked in, he'd walked through it for hours. Sopping wet from the tip of his old leather hat, to the gray woolen jacket, the stranger shakily entered as thunder crashed. He raised his head and met the eyes of the young man at the bar. "d..d.drink.. " he stuttered, reaching into his pocket with trembling hands for a leather purse filled with silvers. The man's age was hard to determine due to the unshaven beard, and the shocked demeanor he carried, making every movement tremble as if he were a man of 70. His hair was a dull black color, and his clothing very drab and uninteresting. Common was written all over him.

((Ha! I don't have to pretend that I know how to play the game!!!))
Over the course of the night, Naburine had both lost and won multipule times, but she ended up making a small profit off the man in the end. She had enjoyed the game, but it got tiring after a while. She raked in the gold coins that she had won and placed them in her belt purse, looking up at Mat with a twinkle in her brown eyes. "Well, that was sure fun, wasn't it? Thanks for teaching me a new game. It will come in handy in getting my ship back."
Elijah looked slightly worried at the newcomer's presence, as if maybe this man would have a heart attack at any moment. "Sure thing, sir. Whatcha want... something strong or just warming?"

Mat winced when she scooped up what was mostly His gold coins.. He'd never had bad enough luck to lose in the end, let alone to someone he'd just taught the game.
He dawned his grin again quickly though, it wasn't a big enough loss that he couldn't walk to another tavern and recover five times in a few hours. He shrugged while he retrieved his dice and replaced them in his cloak.
"A few more games and you'd be taking the shirt off my back!" He grinned wickedly, adding to the tone that sounded as if it might be enjoyable instead of a bad thing.
"Care to buy me a drink, then?"

The man looked at Elijah as if he had just pulled a gun on him, and nodded, giving a barely audible reply, "Something heavy." He made his way toward the bar, jumping at small noises here and there as he took a seat on a stool. the scraggy looking stranger muttered to himself quietly.

Elijah hesitantly got to work. "Sure... I'll get you something heavy." He bagan mixing different types of alchoholic beverages to create a mix of things that this man might need. Brandy to warm him up, for sure... a bit of mulled wine to calm his nerves... After a bit, he finished mixing the drink and placed it on the bar. "Two silver, good man."
Naburine raised an eyebrow at Mat, and then shrugged. "What do'ya want, then?"
