Magus stood still as a statue, making no sound whatsoever, almost in a trance. His gloved left hand began to glow a dull orange color, slowly becoming brighter. All of a sudden, with very snappish movements, he hurled the little sphere of light behind him, and slightly off the path. Aramil yelped and hit the deck as the fireball whizzed by him, and stuck the face of a very large, black furred beast. It seemed to be a black panther with a slight violet tinge to it, and two large tentacles sprouting from just behind the shoulderblades. It roared and charged towards the assailants, now seeing that it's easy prey was not alone.

Perin smiled and unsheathed one of her swords. Thistle watched her curiously until she spotted the creature comming at them. "Woah! That is one ugly cat!"
Deekin immediately started signing his doom song. No matter how horrid the creature's voice was his voice still held the same properties of a bard. Almost instantly the halfling itched to fight the thing. She ran towards it her poisoned blade held out. She veered off her course so that she ran past it and let her sword slice into the panther's shoulder. She then rolled out of the way and into the bushes where she was concealed. Once there she sat down and tried to calm herself and ignore her companion's song.

"It's a displacer beast!" Magus shouted.
A nasty growl and yowl came from the black panther, as it suddenly seemed to teleport over about a foot and a half to it's left (like if someone were to take a video camera, pause the feed, and have the actor move over in the same position, then hit record again). "Don't be decieved! Hit where you did before!" Magus shouted again. Aramil held his breath, which was hard considering what just happened. Perin was only a few inches away from his hiding spot...
The mage readied another spell, firing a javelin of ice toward the panther, which went right through the beast... almost as if it weren't there. "That's only the illusion, it's standing right where it was before," Magus remarked afterwards. That ice thing.. was it only for emphasis, or was he covering for a mistake?
The black beast didn't like the ice, but the worst bit was the yowling! That little lizard would be an easy prey.

Deekin hld his crossbow ready to firebut couldn't remember where the panther really was. He heard yowling somehwere infront of him and so he shot a bolt and hoped it hit while he wasted no time and reloaded his weapon.
Perin cleaned off her her blade carefully. Last thing she wanted was to get poisoned herself. She kept her eyes on her sword to let the little guy next to her think he was safe. But after a moment she decided to let him know he was caught. "Good thing that mage was there eh boy?"

Shivelle acted quickly, letting her vampiric self loose. Her leathery wings sprouted from her back with a tearing sound, her eyes flashed red, and her canine teeth elongated frightfuly fast. Leaping into the air, her two scythes appeared in her hands. Hovering over the group, she waited for a definate target before going in for a killing strike. Her new senses told her that there was young blood around... one was definately an elf, and the other two had an elfish scent to the blood as well. It did not take much to realize who these beings were. She grinned in spite of herself as she looked below at Naburine, who surely must have known of their presence for a while. The ninja girl was on the opposite side of the beast that Peirn was, trying to encircle it. Dark was holding back, for there were too many people in the way to use sorcery safely.

The black, tentacled panther gazed at the two, seeing the little kobold, and the less than little ninja. She was the bigger threat. She'd go down first. The black beast growled as it charged forward, it's sinewey tentacles whipping toward Naburine with a feral speed. As the beast neared her, it became gradually more visible to the ninja. (Others who are fighting it from a distance still see it being about three feet to her left, not in front of her).
Aramil took a step back.. or rather.. crawled backwards a little in surprise at being spotted, and looked at Perin for a moment. His cover was blown.. He may as well look heroic, his friends were in danger, he couldn't sit here and follow them, hoping they'd be alright and just watch them get clawed up.
Magus cursed, chanting another spell. It was too close-quarters for offensive magic.. but he could still help. As he held his index and ring finger together, and thrust his arms outward, his eyes opened and his chant finished. A red flash appeared from between his two hands, and vanished, as Shivelle began to glow with a red shimmering outline. It really was her color.
Aramil rose from the bushes, and too began to chant a rather rudimentary spell. It was clear to any spellcaster who took the time to study him that he was preparing an offensive spell.

Perin watched the little elf boy with mild interest. Adventurers are getting younger and younger every day. she thought as she continued to observe the boy. If he wasnted to get himself killed she was definately not going to stop him.

As the panther began to materialize before her, Naburine scowled beneath her mask. It was coming too fast to move to a good spot, so she'd have to take it out head on. She planted her feet and waited until the right moment. Just as the beast's tentacles were about to reach her, she swiftly pulled out two matching daggers and slashed them in an "x" motion, cutting the tentacles off. Now, however, what on earth was she going to do in the next second when that nasty thing ran into her?
Shivelle noticed the glow about her in astonishment. She had no idea what was going on... either way, she had to stop that panther before it got to Naburine or Aramil, who she could plainly see now. She swooped down, her scythes ready to cut the animal to ribbons.
Dark noticed the blonde head of hair that came up from the bushes and gasped... then she hit herself upside the head for being so caught up in her worries and thoughts not to notice him. At that moment, she became acutely aware of her own childrens' presences. Uttering a very unladylike curse, Dark decided to take care of Tai and Snowbird later and save Aramil before he did something terribly stupid... she could see him readying a spell, and she knew it would not be strong enough to hold that creature at bay.

A steely flash tore from the wooded are, a weathered dwarf howling as he raised his hammer. "Dwarven Cleave!" He cried out, slamming the hammer down and sending a powerful seismic wave towards the odd creatures.
Another man, masked in a facade of Gold and white appeared behind the two small twins, Tai and Snowbirdm extending a gentle hand towards them. His peircing blue eyes skimmed over the short ones heads, a large and ornate warhammer clutched tightly in his fist.
"Blessed Flight." Came yet another voice, lifting Aramil with a powerful unsettling heave towards the sky, caught by a black blur in mid air. The half masked man set him down quickly shaking his head. "My my how you've grown. How'd you end up all the way out here Aramil?"
[[The whole illusionary beast thing confused me a tad...hence why no direct strikes were made ^_^ But chyea. I'm back sucka's! ^_~]]

(( Yeah, it's a monster straight from the D&D sourcebook.. It makes itself appear as if it's a few feet away from where it really is.. Like if you cross your eyes. W.B.!))
Aramil lost concentration as he flew up into the air, and looked around wildly, wondering what the heck had just happened. Suddenly he felt arms beneath him, holding him far above the ground. Turning around, the boy felt speechless with surprise at his saviour. He decided to hold off on any guardian angel remarks. "I.. uh.. "
The waves of force and upheaved earth struck the creature, sending it rolling on its side, a good distance away from any of the party. Within seconds it scrambled to its feet, shaken from the effect of the blast, and hindered from the pain of it's wounds. It seemed to be bleeding heavily, which ruined the illusion.
Magus watched as his spell took effect, Shivelle's aim straightening toward it's target, regardless of her own ability. True Strike.

The dwarf smirked, his leathery skinned nose peering from under his helm. "Riki! Tesshu! Their this way!"
In the distance, the black clad ninja and the Gold masked Tesshu took their 'hostages' and lept into the clearing nigh the dwarf. "Bout time you old geezer." Riki mumbled with a smirk.
"...Angels." Khorg grumbled in response. "How abuot ye stop yer ramblin and stab that ugly thing over there?"
"Alot of nerve calling anything aside form yourself ugly Khorg..." Commented Tesshu.
"Shut up and get with the stabbing!"

Shivelle, with the aid of Magus' spell, struck the beast with full force through its chest. Luckily, when the dwarf had used that earthquake-like attack, the beast had rolled away from Naburine, leaving her unharmed. Now it was done for. Shivelle grinned savagely as the beast's blood spurted to her lips. It was not too bad...
Dark had stopped in mid-stride, her cerulean eyes widening to an alarming size as her husband, her brother-in-law, and Khorg suddenly appeared into the fray. "Oh... Othedin and all the gods bless us..." She cursed silently to herself. The poor elf woman had already had enough trauma in the past two days to last her the rest of her life... and that was saying something. Unable to stand any longer, she sank to the ground, her mouth slightly open and her eyes fixed on her husband.
Naburine took a deep breath as she was saved by happenstance and shook her wavy brown hair to get it out of her way enough to look around. There had been way too much action in the last moment to really catch... her brain was on sensory overload. Catching up with what was going on, her own eyes widened as she noted the appearance of the winged figures. Wasn't that guy Dark's husband or something like that? "Uh oh..."

Riki set Aramil to his feet, grabbing his own arm gingerly. "Riki..." Tesshu began. A quick glance told Tesshu to speak no more. "Well well..." The taller brother quickly said, changing his tune. He romved his mask, tucking it under arm and kneeling before his brother's twins. "Haven't you two really sprouted..."
"...Th'hell was that...thing?" Khorg said in a confused state of mind. Before an answer could be given he fell on his back, fast asleep as his snore filled the air.
"...Dwarves." Rikmaru said with a smirk as he glanced at his children slowly, shaking his head. He then quickly turned about, eyes catching Dark's petite frame on the ground and dashed over. "Felishtara..." He whispered softly. "Take a rest...I'm back."

Deekin was looking at all the men in shock. "Who be you? Deekin never seen you before. BOSS!! BOSS! WHERE ARE YOU BOSS!?" He cried when he noticed he could no longer see his halfling leader.
Cursing the silver haired 'hobbit' came out from where she had jumped when she sensed the power of the new arrivals. "Deekin, Will you SHUT UP?!" She marched over to him and ripped up a few pages of manuscript. Deekin let out a wail of anguis and frantically started gathering all the pieces.
Thistle watched and felt a little bothered by all the happenings. What Perin did was not nice at all and she felt like hitting Riki. "And just where have you all been? Do you know how long it has been since we've got a letter? Do you!?"

Tesshu smirked as he knelt. "Of course Lady Thistle. Let's see how to put this. You know sometimes you're falling asleep, but you don't quite and nothing seems quite right? That space right in between is where we've been." "Also kindly known as hell." Came Khorg's voice between a snore.
