"Well, I need someone to keep my legacy going." Raiku took a step back, leaning upon the railing of the upper deck. Raiku, for once in a very long time, showed some negative emotion in his face. A kind of depressed glare...He shook it off, "So, what kind of shipment are we waiting for, just basic neccesities, or perhaps something a little more interesting?"

"Aye. It wouldnt do to be gettin lost on this ship. No one would notice if ye were missin for at least four days. Then they'd wonder why the deck was so grimy." Amy straightened and rocked back on her heels with her hands behind herback as a particularly mean looking fellow walked by. He had a long red scar on his face that ran from his ear to jaw. When he passes she knelt back down. "I'd steer clear of 'im. He's as mean as he looks and he takes no nonsense. Gave me a black eye when I first got here."

Naburine looked pointedly at Raiku. "Oh, you know better than to be askin' me what I bring aboard my ship. But mostly it is all suppoies. We are going to be settin' sale for the isle of Peking, a small thing out in the middle of nowhere, but it's full of people who wish to buy and sell things of... value. I am in business, you know."

Aramil gave Amy a nod, looking a little more afraid of that ogre with the scar. "So, where are we going on the boat anyway? Are we going to find buried treasure? Or are we gonna go plunder a sloop, or pillage, or keelhaul the landlubber?" Aramil asked, beaming up at Amy, while his tiger tail sneakily hid the brush and bucket inside a coil of rope.

"Business?" Raiku snickered. "Well, I best not ask any more questions. I hope you don't mind the little brat and I taggin' along do ya?"

Naburine shrugged. "I wasn't expecting any company, but a ship could always use a bit more help." Naburine looks thoughtfully over her shoulder at the boy speaking with Amy. "He doesn't seem like such a little brat. Actually, he seems quite sweet." She turns her caramel brown eyes back to Raiku. "He's ready for an adventure, is he?"

"We will see". Raiku responded.
*TIME SHIFT*
Raiku took out his log book and began writing within the first page:
Voyage, Day One 4:36 AM It has been three hours since we departed from port. I have caught a glimpse or two of Aramil while working...It seems he is making an impression on the crew. He has made a friend it seems...Amy was her name. I will watch those two most carefully...
He quickly closed the book, and wrapped the leather binding around it. As he put the book into the cabinet next to the bed, he looked out to see the ocean quickly passing by. Mountains in the distance. He exhaled...it was good to be back.

"Swab, swab, swab, swab the deck..." Aramil chanted in a sing-song tune, trying to make the chore seem more entertaining. Pausing for a moment, the boy looked out at the sea. The sky kept going until it met the water. "Wow..." muttered the dumbstruck boy, really seeing the ocean for the first time.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" Naburine had her arms folded and her weight on one leg as she usually did. The boy amused her, and she had wanted to speak to him, anyway. This looked like a perfect time.

Aramil turned around... It was the captain. He didn't meet her much yet, so he decided to test her tolerance. If it had been one of the burly sailors, he would have gotten straight back to work... "Yeah.. What's beyond there?" he asked, pointing to the horizon, where the sky and the sea came together.

Naburine's eyes glow in a knowing way, but she says nothing about what the boy is doing. Instead, she simply answers his question. "The entire world, boy. The entire world." She looks up with her caramel eyes, her black silken mask rustling slightly in the sea breeze. A dreamy look comes into her eyes, but she still holds her strong pose. "That, out there, is what I was born to discover. It is beauty, it is magic. It is gentle, but it is strong. It is the ocean... a grand world open to any who are willing to explore it." She looks back at the little boy. "So, boy, why was it that you wanted to get on my ship? A ship full of pirates, no less."

"Well, it's a long story, and most of it wasn't my idea... Until Raiku asked if I wanted to go on a pirate adventure," Aramil said, leaning slightly over the rail so that he was on his tip-toes, looking out at the water. "I guess I always wanted to travel. Staying still in one place is boring... I've heard stories from everyone about far-off places.. all sorts of wonders, and stuff like that, y'know?"

Naburine smiles underneath her silk mask and leans next to him, her brown hair flipping about in the sea wind. "Yes, I know that there are all sorts of stories out there. I must warn you, boy, that there are dangers beyond anything you've ever experienced before out here that come right along with the adventure."

"I hope so.. Danger is always exciting.. " replied the boy, turning and giving the captain a smarmy grin.

Naburine's cold eyes soften slightly at the boy's face. "Yes. What would an adventure be if there were no danger? But danger can also bring about death... and there are many who die out here. What are you willing to do to keep yourself from dying?"
