The road was dark, night had already fallen by the time she had gotten into her car, and out on the highway. Her mind kept wondering about what it was that had made her sister so frantic.. she sounded scared. She knitted her brow in thought, when something white caught her eye. Looking to the left, she almost crashed into the railing. Luckily, this road was seldom used, and cars weren't around to run into.
Connie parked her jeep on the shoulder for a moment, squinting into the darkness for any sign of what she saw. There it was again. Something was moving along the tree line. Maybe a shirt or some piece of white trash (hehe) caught in the branches.

"Shoot..." Elizabeth muttered, her electronic eyes dialating. She had picked up that attitude from one of the guards in the plant. She knew that she had been seen, for the car had stopped. She saw a woman... maybe she could simply trick her. Elizabeth had found that in this outside world, the women tended to be quite stupid. She wished her dress had not become rags... her pasty white skin was exposed so much that she could be seen by anyone anywhere. She attempted to cover as much skin as she could with her extrememly long black hair, and then she froze, waiting for the woman to go away.

The night breeze brushed against Kris, the often soft push seemed slightly more intense from so high up. But this was the life he had always wanted. A city life, one where he didnt have to go far to hide, although it had been so long that he often felt like he didnt have to hide. But his arm always spoiled these feelings. Spontanious spasms of pain constantly surged through it. A side effect of the experiments done to him back at the facility. He had learned to fight the agony, pushing it back, and focusing on the one thing that made him happy.
Sarah was completly oblivious to Kris's presence on the roof of the apartment complex. She shivered in the cold, staring out into the moon, while somehow managing to ignore the busy city below. The horns a' honking, the people yelling, the radios's blasting...they all seemed to fade into the blackness and emptiness of the night sky.
Kris hugged Sarah from behind, a little frightened she squeeled and turned to face him. As she did, Kris pulled a bouquet of flowers out from some unkown region. "Do you know how long it's been?" Kris asked. "Why of course, it has been...2 years!" "Yeah, an entire year..." "I can't believe that it's been so long." "Not nearly long enough..." Kris said as he fell to one knee, pulling a little black box from his pocket. "I love you...you know that." Sarah could not contain her glee.

Connie hopped over the railing, bent on discovering what the white item was. It seemed silly, and it would be an inexcusable excuse if she were late because of it, yet there was something that drove her to investigate. Maybe it was her miond wandering over abstract ideas.. Wondering what made her sister so distraught led her to slight paranoia.. Whatever it was seemed to move, though she couldn't say whether it was the wind, or it's own ability.

Elizabeth swore savagely. The woman was not as stupid as she had hoped. The cursed thing was walking toward her. Seeing no alternative, she broke into a run, even though she was tired.

Suddenly the white thing moved and ran off. It was a girl... But what was a girl doing around here all alone in the middle of nowhere? "Wait! Little girl! I'm not going to hurt you!" Connie shouted, giving chase to the girl. Having lived around this place, she knew not to wear sensible shoes as much as hiking boots. She didn't mind if it made her look like a hick. Frankly, she was a hick.

Elizabeth began to pant almost as soon as she had started her run. She had been running from people all day, and her body was absolutely exhausted. There was nothing she could do about it... but she kept running. Her legs ached and she was aware that her feet were bleeding, but that did not matter. Elizabeth knew that if she was caught, that would mean questions... and she did not want to answer them.

Kris and Sarah stood upon the roof for the rest of the night. Niether of them wanted to sleep, they both wanted to talk about the life they would share. Thinking of...raising children, and growing old a log cabin somewhere in the mountains. Beautiful thoughts. However, Sarah could not resist sleeping, even in the excitement of this night. She fell asleep in Kris's arms. Even if he was numb, he would not show it. This was the best night of his life.
For the first night since the incident, Kris slept peacefully.

The same would not be so for Elizabeth and the vetrinarian.
"Wait! I want to help you!" Connie ran through the woods, trying not to let the girl get lost or out of her sight. This was just so strange, out in the middle of the woods, there would be a girl running around with no one around or anything. She was undoubtedly lost, but where had she come from? The vetrinarian's jacket got caught on an outstretched limb of a tree, and yanked her back slightly. It took her half a second to rip off the limb, and a hole in her sleeve. She looked back, but the girl had managed to escape her sight. Dr. Connie squinted in the darkness, but there was no sign of the girl amidst the heavy brush and foliage.

Elizabeth had not gone far ahead, however, until she collapsed in a coughing, exhausted heap on the forest floor. She gasped terribly and then lost her conciousness.
