two teenagers began to climb out of a motorized one. ((Waiiiiiit a minute... isn't this set in the middle ages??!?!)) The night was darker than usual tonight. The moon was covered by clouds. It was a perfect night for feeding... which was obvious by the absolute reek of blood in the air. Novices, Shivelle thought to herself as she walked along the stone-paved streets of the city. Everyone will be alerted to our presence if this keeps up any longer. She did not like feeding... she hated it, actually. But there was no way she could simply put aside what she was. She needed blood every once in a while, otherwise, she would cease to be. Why couldn't she have been born a human? She looked around, her vampiric red eyes able to pierce the darkness well. Bodies were strewn about the ally ways. More and more every night... and they smelled horrible. Shivelle had noted the seemingly spreading deaths, but she was still unable to figure out the exact cause. It had just began to happen... and not many people had noticed. There was a different smell about their blood, however... the dead ones. There was an illness in their bloodstream... and it was disgusting, whatever it was. Actually, it smelled quite a bit like rats. But humans could not have rat's blood. Her brow wrinkled in concentration as she thought about the problem... but she could not find the answer. Perhaps if she walked and pondered more, she would.

((Motor boat...right...seems my brain is working a little slowly tonight. Shall we ignore it?)) Natasha got sick of waiting. She was never one for great patience. Unhooking her dual swords, she flipped them in her hands and made her way to the cabin. Once there she smelled blood. Bad blood. "Vat a vay to leave your mark. I shall find you sooner now." She stepped through the door to a scene that would be horrifying to those not used to them. Blood was splattered on one wall, the corpse lying next to all the blood. The throat of the old man was torn so many ways you couldn't tell it was a neck. "It vould be enough to make me hungry vonce more, if it veren't for ze horrible smell zat comes vith it. Zat nameless man is quite sloppy," she said, as she bent over the body to examine the work. Her desire to kill the man only grew with the gruesome scene, but with the scent of morning in the air, she knew she would have to wait. "Per'aps I come back tomorrow vith help." She headed back to the boat and back to town. Her usual spot would do to spread the word, so as she reached the bar she normally stayed in, she muttered to the bartender, "Tell ze vones like me zat I need 'elp tomorrow night." The bartender nodded, and she trusted that the news would spread.

"Reona, close your eyes," said the man quietly from within the safe confines of his carraige. The two chestnut mares plodded toward the small dock town, a driver perched atop the carraige, clad in baggy clothes and a thick cloak.
"What is your intent my lord..?" she asked with a giggle. "You need not worry, simply close your eyes and enjoy it for but a moment," came his reply, as he gently pulled the girl closer to his side. Making sure her eyes were closed, Aries turned his head and bit her softly on the neck. She winced at first, until the sensation of pain vanished under the euphoric feelings flowed through her. She began breathing quicker as Aries drew the blood from her artery. Not too long after, Aries stopped and lifted his fangs from her, the two punctures healing up quickly. She looked slightly paled, out of breath, and lightheaded, but a funny sort of grin was on her face. "Thank you Reona," Aries said with a bow of his head. She looked to him for words to say, but couldn't come up with anything. Aries relieved her of the necessity to come up with a reply, by speaking up again. "Ah, we've arrived," he stated as the carraige came to a stop. The door was opened for him by his cloaked and masked driver, the top-hat upon his head was in his hands to show humility. "The Black Perch," he told the driver with a look of satisfaction. Before them stood a two story building, a wonder for the dark ages. It seemed to be a high-quality inn and restaurant, obviously not an establishment for the everyday travellers. The fact that this port was not on the mainroad from the capital made such a building unusual, as there wouldn't be enough passerbys. It likely would have floundered, were it not being financed by house Bontecou.
And nothing but the finest will satisfy the tastes of my kindred. he thought as he entered the vampire sanctuary.

Arch let himself fall from the cieling in the living room of the house. Landing hard against the floor, he looked to the body of the man. The stone cold eyes of Arch showed remorse...but how could that be? Why did he regret killing the man? No longer hungry, Arch opened the door, wanting to cry. But the tears would not come. Why does he keep killing? This is not like him!
The sun began rising, the creeping orange color of a coming day rose quickly as the stars faded away. "I can't do this anymore." Arch told himself, walking outside.
After a long hour, the sun finally revealed itself to the village. Sharp pain coursed through his brain as the light attacked his flesh. He couldn't bear it, and that's what Arch wanted. Some punishment for his acts. His hunger was satisfied for a time, and that time only lasted a few moments, perhaps if he would just stop and let the sun kill him...unfortunately the hunger returned to him. Quickly he dove behind a tree, and then back into the cabin where he would remain until the moon returned.
(Go for it, you human folk.)

"Reona, We'll be having guests soon, the sun rises. Makue sure all the windows are barred and lightproofed," Aries said, talking to his assistant as they descended the stone staircase. She nodded, and he heard her footsteps ascend the steps behind him.
"This new plague is making everyone restless... I hope Reona stays safe from it, for both our sakes."

Ruth was having a busy day. She got up at the crack of dawn to take care of the chickens and had been running errands all day. She avoided places with sick people, lengthening her route. This is going to take all day she thought to herself.
Lost in her thoughts, she hardly noticed the man until he was right in front of her. He had all the marks of the disease and appeared crazed as well. He lunged for her and she took off down a side street, clutching her bag to her chest.

((...I suppose that I will take over the man, then? And Zeph, what's up with your character and his little blood-dish? I am very much on the cunfuzzled side... I read the character profile... and Reona was never mentioned. Why didn't she die when bitten...? I am so lost!))
The diseased man had been working all day to find something to eat, or something to buy it with. Seeing the girl had given him hope... but as he tried to run after her, he started coughing terribly. His lungs felt like they were on fire... a type of thing that he could not endure much longer. He tried to move again, but he collapsed in a heap as a coughing fit overtook him. Clutching at his throat, he screams out between terrible coughs, "Have mercy and kill me now!"
"Alright." The man did not have enough time to look and see who had spoken, the scythe came so quickly into him. Shivelle pulled the scythe out and then looked down at the corpse. She had eased his passing, but she also now had a sample of the blood... fresh blood. Shivelle looks up, noticing the girl running. Better get away before she turns... and to reach a house before the sun came up. She could already see the stains of light in the dark sky.

(( because i don't feel the need to drain her dry and murder her... The body regains gallons of blood if it's lost. Why cook the chicken when eggs suffice?))
Reona, rising to the first floor to close the windows, notices the dark-clad individuals, running ravidly from the rays of the sun. She burst the door open, and shouted toward them to enter this way, motioning them to enter. "Hurry! It's almost Sunrise!" the girl shouted.
Ruth, not knowing about the vampires, probably would assume that the girl is motioning her in for safety to avoid the madman. The gibberish about sunrise was a little strange, but she's helping you survive...Can't be worse than letting yourself get caught.

Cautiously Ruth looked at the girl motioning to her. She didn't recognize her, but anything was better than back there. She stepped inside.

Shivelle, hearing the call, quickly ran toward the sound, her steel-toed boots making clanks on the cobbled streets as she did. They were not that heavy to her, though... magic had made sure of that. She ran into the house just as the sun peeked over a distant hill. He bows politely to the girl. "Thank you, miss."

Reona slammed the heavy door shut behind her, and drew drapes across the doorway, the ends of it dragging along the floor.
Soon she lit a candle, and walked around, beginning to bring light to the room by lighting mounted sconces. Reona was dressed in an elegant black dress with white lace, and intricate emproidery, her hair bound in a neat bun. However, she did not seem old at all, despite her mature lady-like appearance.
"You shouldn't even be out this early in the day," the girl scolded them, adjusting the rest of the room so that it would remain sun-proof.
"The master is downstairs, feel free to wander around, the rooms are all lightless. Don't open any doors, draperies, or windows to the outside."

Ruth's mind was whirling. This place was beginning to look a great deal worse than what she had come from. She had the heard stories; the ones about things that looked human, but were not.
"Why not?" she asked, hoping to sound like she didn't know what this woman was.

Shivelle looks at Ruth, her red eyes searching the girl's face. She sniffs inwardly, checking the girl's blood type. Comprehention dawns on her face, and she carefully moves away, seeing as her vampiric self was hungry and she did not want to yield to it on an innocent young woman. "My dear, I think, for your own safety, you should leave this place. You look like one who enjoys the light, anyway."

"No doors are to be opened," Reona stated firmly. "You certainly are making a racket up here Re-.." came a voice from the stairway leading from the hall. As he came up and appeared, he noticed all the strangers in his sanctuary...
"Hrm, so I do have guests after all. Welcome, my name is Aries Bontecou. If you would care to join me, there are more recreatory rooms on the levels below, should you need a shelter to sleep in for the day. There we may also talk, if you'd prefer. It's not often i have unexpected guests..." The man seemed to talk with a silvered tongue, smiling casually as he does so. Dressed in finer clothing, he motions toward the door he just came from, and holds it open.
"If you'd like to stay up here, you may do so as well."

Hardly knowing what to say, Ruth glanced from face to face. "I - I....I don't think I should be here" she managed to stammer out. "It was a mistake". She glanced at the red-eyed one, silently pleading to be let out.
