"Right. Can we just go? I've seen all there is to see here." Naome looked very restless as she waited for Annie to make up a decision. She would much rather just go exploring herself now that she could speak the language. In fact just to get things going she turned and started jogging away.
"Naome!" Tion called to his twin before running after her. By the time he had caught up to her they had reached the end of the street and could see lots of billboards an lights and even some people. "What is this place?"

"hey! Wait for me!" Aramil called out, chasing after them with one hand reaching forward, the other holding his staff.
Magus remained silent, but walked along behind them, grinning behind his expressionless mask.

Raiku took a moment to look at the clothes he was wearing. Annie didn't seem to have big ol' spaulders like he did..."Well, I wouldn't mind pickin' up a thing or two to wear. Where should I go, do you think?" He asked Annie, hoping that his English was good enough to understand. It was strange thinking of what he was saying, and feeling his lips move in different patterns. It was unconscious, but he soon got used to the change.
Aegis ran after the others, giving Magus a good three or four extra yards of distance when passing him. Vampires are scarrrry! "Hey, guys, wait up!"

((They aren't speaking English - I explained this already. They seem to be to those who actually speak it, but there is no change. They can understand it as well, but they cannot actually speak it just like that. You cannot learn an entire new language just like that.))
Annie sighed and jogged after her husband and half-sister, saying to Raiku over her shoulder, "I have some place we could get some clothing. I'll help you guys get some." She then arrived at the sidewalk next to them, looking up and down the street, trying to figure out just what time they may have landed in. Everything looked pretty much the same as it had when she had left. "This is Hollywood, California," Annie mumbled in response to Naome.
Dark walked up behind the group, scanning everything with her cerulean eyes. There were some interesting things to look at... like the things on the billboards. Why would anyone want to have themselves painted in huge porportions wearing... well... what WAS that woman wearing, anyway?

The little elf hoped that this time he wouldn't get stuck with Girl's clothes, like the incident with Dert. Dert is NOT a girl's name. As they approached the road, it seemed to completely contrast the calm, vacant park. Crowds of people swarmed the sidewalks as gigantic floats made their way across the roads, each one bedecked in arrays of bright, colorful lights. There were even some people all over them waving! IT looked like there was a snow recently, because the floats were all covered in it, though the people didn't look cold, and it wasn't cold outside at all really. The little elf's eyes grew wide as a gigantic snowman flew through the air, people holding onto it with ropes to keep it from floating away. Magus looked baffled at this, but kept a stern face, like a scientist observing irrational behaviour in animals. Slowly a large sled came into vew, being led by nine caribou. On the sled sat a big fat man in red, with rosy cheeks and a red suit with white fur all over it. All the children around cheered, and there were so many! Aramil's eyes were wide, glued to the whole event, and his mouth was wide open, arms limp at his sides.
"Frivolties," sneered Magus. He was more interested in the setting around them, the tall buildings, the concrete roads which seemed familiar to him. He looked up, but saw blue sky, not a dome to the city.

Annie smiled, finally figuring out what was going on. "It's the Hollywood Christmas Parade." Then she frowed. "If that's so, then I've only been gone for three days... but I've been in Ellaia for a few years now... maybe it's years later and not days... this could be complicated." She noticed Aramil and chuckled at his awe. "Have you never seen any sort of parade before?"
Dark looked confused at everything, and Naburine looked utterly bored.

"Never," aramil replied, still looking incredulously at the spectacle of lights and sounds that rolled merrily across the street. Had he not been so awestruck, the little elf would probably have a grin on at least as wide as the street. "What's it for?" he asked after a moment...

Annie shrugged. "It's in celebration of a religious holiday that the majority of people in this nation observe called 'Christmas.' Many people have forgotten the religion part and keep to the celebration part, though."

( "GRR"* Stomps on the chirping crickets* "Hush you! We're NOT dead... Not if i have anything to say about it!")
"Ooh..." replied Aramil, looking around in child-like wonder. "What are those animals pulling the fat old man in red?" he asked, smiling at the comedy of it. "And isn't it too hot for snow?" "And why are there so many bells?" He rattled on with many more chain questions, before noticing some folks on a nativity float, an entire chorale of men and women dressed in white smocks with halos and wings all singing some solemn song. "Say, aren't those rikimaru's people? What's on their heads..?"
Magus took a glance at them at this comment, but sighed and looked away when he saw they were simply humans in bad costume. "As interesting as this may be to some of us, can we move away from the clamour and din of this spectacle? I would have left myself, but I do not know this city, and without my magical means I would be ill-suited for getting lost in this world."

Annie laughed at Aramil's slew of questions and answered each one to the best of her ability before turning to Magus. "I agree. I never much enjoyed crowds." She noticed Naome looking restless. "I suggest we go to the market. You all can see just how different this is to what you are used to, and there is a place I can get my money there - and it's through a device that I am sure some of you will find extrodinarily fascinating." She looked around, knowing that there was no way to get through the crowd on the street. "We're going to have to cut through the park in order to get where we're headed." She bagan to walk back the way they came, back into the nearly-empty park.
Dark and Naburine took one more look over their shoulders before following Annie. This was all really odd.

Naome nodded enthusiastically and quickly made her way up to walk beside Annie. "Yes, I am very interested in the Market you have here. What kind of things do they sell at it? Is it a clothing and armor market? Or do they sell weapons? It's not just a plain food market is it?"
Tion rolled his eyes at his twin's questions and dropped back to walk with Dark and Naburine. "She is as bad as Aramil." He glanced around at the scenery as they walked by and sighed. "This place seems to unnatural to me. I like cities but, I feel somehow very enclosed."

Dark nodded at Tion's comments, looking around as well. "So do I, oddly enough. I have seen many large cities in my life. Many, many, many cities. But this makes me feel different - I feel slightly uneasy. Maybe that's due to the lack of magic here, but I think it is more than that. I certainly hope the whole planet isn't like this. How do they survive with so many people crowded into one space? Where do all their resources come from?" Naburine nodded as well, but had remained silent and wary. She did not like this very much, but she could live with it. Big crowds meant more ease to slip away.
Annie shook her head at Naome, chuckling a bit. "It's not an open market, Naome. 'Market' sells everything, but everything is in its own separate small building in the middle of everything. You'll see when we arrive."

Aramil drew his eyes away from the parade finally, agreeably following Annie as they began moving toward the city, Magus following stoically behind along with Dark. "These towers.. they don't look like guard towers to me. What is their purpose?" he asked Annie while they walked, the odd hodgepodge of costumed weirdos that they were.

((Well... er... Okay. I will roll with it.))
Annie looked at Magus in slight confusion, and then she saw where he was looking. She would have understood if there were skyscrapers in Hollywood, but there weren't. He was looking at the billboard towers and such. "Their purpose is to advertise things. People pay a lot of money to have their products shown up there. The ladders and iron grids are for the maintenence people who go up and change the billboards every once in a while."
Dark was about to ask why one had a picture of a nearly-bare woman, but then she figured the worst and kept her mouth shut. Didn't want to embarass the kids.
That's okay, though... because Naburine brought it up.
Annie laughed. "Don't worry. They use women like that to advertise their products. The one you saw was probably something for purfume. Don't worry - there's no prostitution billboards... in broad daylight, anyway. And we don't have slave markets."

Aegis opened his eyes a little more at the billboard, hoping that women here don't dress like that. Nonetheless, he was intrigued, but forced his eyes toward to parade. It was cold...
