"No offense to My Lady here, but after that beating I think I need something heavier than what we started the night off with. I'll have..." Mat glanced over his shoulder towards the bar area, inspecting the scene for a moment. The ragged man and the bartender.. well.. Tending the bar. He pointed with a thumb over his shoulder to the bar. "Whatever that bloody mess he's making is."

"Hey, Elijah, could I trouble you for another one of those?" Naburine called out to him as if he was an old friend, which he might well have been.
"You got it, Captain." The young man whipped up the drink quickly and put it on the bar. Naburine got up, paid for the drink and walked back to the table after saying "thanks" to Elijah. She placed it in front of Mat. "Now what do you say?"

He pulled a few silvers from the leather pouch and dropped them onto the counter, where they made a notable clatter, one spinning around in a circle before resting finally on its side. The scraggly gentlemen reached for the drink, grasping the handle slowly, but with a grip that turned his knuckles white, and began downing it. Thankfully it had been a mix and not straight brandy, or he would have burned a hole in his throat the way he was chugging.

"Cheers!" Mat called with his usual grin. Swiping the drink from it's place on the table, he began to mimic the guy at the bar, as if racing to see which one could finish the drink first.

Nabrine shook her head. "Men."
Elijah scooped up the coins and then watched the man down his drink in worried silence for a few moments. "Uh... is there anything else I can get for ya?"

(( kay, forget the old man. He pays, and leaves. I have fired him from my mind. New char!))
A drawn looking young man in fine green and black clothing ties the horse up by the reins outside the establishment. He looked pale, dirty looking blonde hair waving around his dark looking eyes. He smiled, helping the second passenger off the horse, a little girl about 8 or so, in a blue dress and white leggings, flowers in her hair and a red cloak around her shoulders. She smiled, and skipped into the building, peering around. The darker man walked slowly in, his dead gaze looking around carefully. What a hovel... it would do for now though. "Food if you would, two meals, and wine." the young man said as he approached Elijah. The little girl hopped onto a chair, kicking her feet idely and humming. Adventuring was fun.

((Um... did we just abandon that whole thing?))
Elijah smiled. "Of course, sir." Smiling was his own thing. Nobody expected it; this was a seedy place. That's exactly why he did it. It was fun to see their faces. He bent down beneath the counter and pulled out a bottle of mulled wine and then made his way into the kitchen for some food.

"a little decency, what a surprise..." remarked the grim figure with a smirk. He moved elegantly over to the little girl, and sat down at the table. "It may not be what you're used to, but it's all we can get at the moment. When we arrive you will be able to have whatever you'd like My dear..." he said softly to the child, who stopped her happy humming to nod at him.

Elijah returned, carrying with him two plates of food. He walked out from behind the bar and put them on the table, along with the bottle of wine and two mugs. He wiped his hands on his apron as he asked, "Is there anything else I can get you and the little princess here?" He winked at the young girl, his handsome face all jokes.
"...the wierdest thing that has ever happened to me." The door had opened to the sound of Naburine in mid-sentence. She was absently tying a very full bag to her leather pant's belt loop as she walked in and crossed to the bar. Ferrel was behind her, grinning and shaking his head. He seemed rather pleased about something. It was a good thing that Naburine was clothed differently now. The man would have hidden the little girl's eyes for sure if she had been wearing her usual next-to-nothingness up top.
